Hi Moses!

Isn't the CI AWESOME?!!!! I am glad you are doing so well with

yours. Hmmm, you have me stumped about hearing a radio station and

stating that it may be coming through the cord, acting as antenna. If

there is a radio on, then it will be picked up by the microphone; but

if there is no radio on then you shouldn't be hearing a radio station

playing. I wore the BWP for the first 4 weeks until I got my 3G

and never had that experience. I do remember a lot of noise in my

head while wearing the BWP; but they were all sounds my brain just

could not figure out at that time so it did sound a bit staticy to me

those first 4 weeks. I am wondering if this is what you are

experiencing. I have worn the BWP a few times since that first

month and don't get all those staticy noises anymore. It's just loud

and clear. Personally, I prefer the 3G. It puts sounds in better

perspective than the BWP does so I don't wear the BWP that much.

If you figure out where the radio noise is coming from, post and let

us know because you have me curious.

Continued success to you, Moses!

Patti

Moses,

I can't tell whether you are kidding or not about this radio station. You

are not getting a radio station on your cord. You are probably hearing all

the background noise around you that you never knew was there. Ask a hearing

friend to take you to a quiet room and close all the windows, etc. If it is

very quiet to them and not quiet to you then go have your processor checked.

Hi Moses!

I never thought the radio station was your imagination. It fascinates me

that if you aren't actually around a radio that is on, then how can you be

hearing a radio station? If you ever figure it out, let me know.

Continued success to you!

I've known other people with HAs who got a radio station when they used

their T-switch infra-red hook up and neck loop. So it's not altogether

unheard of if certain radio stations are using a frequency that may be

picked up by other equipment.

Moses maybe you should ask about it at " Radio Shack " if you can find someone

knowledgeable. Or a Ham radio operator might be able to figure it out. I'm

pretty sure Moses isn't joking and the antenna may just be picking something

up.

Radio Shack wont have a clue, they hire college kids to sell products

that they know nothing about. Tell them about a CI and they will get that

blank look.

The CI operates at 5mhz, not even close to radio bands. Someone

suggested a quiet room as an experiment. Moses, if you still hear this

" radio " let your audie know.

lol.. that's why I said " if he can find someone knowledgeable " .. :-) at

Radio Shack.

I only know that I have heard this complaint before from hearing aid users

when trying to use their accessories (loop, etc).

A very knowledgeable audiologist who has written many books is a woman named

Compton. She is employed now at Gallaudet but I was fortunate enough

to have her consultative services when I first lost my heaing in 1994. She

worked with my local audi to plan accommodations for me in my workplace.

Anyway if you don't get to the bottom of this radio station business.. maybe

you could write to her or call her.

Compton, Ph.D.

Compton is an investigator under the Hearing Technologies and CEDAR

components of the RERC. Dr. Compton holds a Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing

Science from the City University of New York, and is currently a faculty

member at Gallaudet University. Dr. Compton is co-founder and director of

the Gallaudet University Assistive Devices Center, and has done considerable

work in the area of needs assessment and selection of hearing assistance

technology.

buying something .. lol!

Good luck Moses! and let us know what you might find out!

I don't know for certain, but I wonder if the " radio station " Moses is

hearing could be tinnitus? I've heard of cases where people actually hear

singing and/or talking in the affected ear. As for myself, I just hear

constant ringing or a roaring freight train. Moses, are you still

experiencing problems with this?

Moses I hope the music's good seriously, I hope you get

it figured out that would be frustrating to hear the radio when you didn't

turn one on.
