Guest guest
You go girl! This was a great report just packed with the information that many of the list readers are interested in. Thanks for sending it. Alice http://www..com > > Hi Leila. I am a bilateral Nucleus CI user and have just upgraded to the Freedoms 3 weeks ago. I use both the rechargeable and disposable batteries.. For me, The rechargeable batteries last 20- 24 hours per battery depending on what side it is. The disposable is now entering its 32nd hour of use. I am guessing that it will be any where from another 10- 16 hours of use before I will have to change them. I will be using the disposable this week and next week as I will be going on vacation and I don't want to have to think about bringing my charger with me. Just a pack of batteries for the week will do. But I think for the most part I will rely on the rechargeables because I know I can get close to 2 full days on it. (12 hour days) But that may not be the norm for every body that has the Freedom. The rechargeable batteries just came out with the upgrades late Sept so we are just started using them so I do not know what the average life span is yet. But I am sure that the N24 users will be posting about the battery life. I do know that they are liking the convenience of sliding them in to the processors. It just takes seconds!!! > The nice thing I like about my Freedom is that I have 4 awesome programs to choose from depending on the environment that I am in. I use the ADRO program for half of the shift like from 3 to 7 then I can switch to my open program. This is the program that does not have any gimmicks or any bells or whistles if you will. from 7 to 11. I work in a very noisy setting on an Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home. I also use my Whisper program while watching TV at home. I have not used my BEAM program yet... but am hoping to try that on my vacation next week. I go back and forth between the open and ADRO programs. > > One more thing and Ill get off my soap box .. I did try my 3G the other day.. It is just not the same any more. The Freedom is just crisper and clearer!!!!! > > Sorry this is long. > > Snoopy > bilateral Nucleus CIs > Freedoms 10/26/06 > > > >

Guest guest
Hi Snoopy! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with upgrading to the Freedom. Hmmm, the 3G now sounds weak to you. I am thinking about keeping my 3G as a back up and trading in my body worn processor since it has become an exspensive paperweight over the years. I really enjoy reading all the posts from those who have upgraded. I am really happy, for you, that it's going so well. I am looking forward to getting my own upgrade especially to have more options of programs at work; but it's been such a slow process in getting the order in. At this date, it's still not ordered. I got the ball rolling way back in early September. It was 3 weeks before I found out that my audie and ENT are no longer with my CI Clinic. They are not even in Pennsylvania anymore. And now there is an inexperienced audie there who up until this week has refused to do the insurance work for me; like my other audie always did. She insisted I order it myself and do the insurance part myself too. I had to talk to several Cochlear representatives on the phone and by email and got sent the wrong info at one point on what to do; but now thanks to a tip from , I got great advice from Cheryl Pickett (sp?), at Cochlear, and she put me in touch with the PA insurance liassion for Cochlear. Whew it seemed like I was doing emails. paperwork or phone calls everyday for two weeks straight to get this process started and to find my original ENT and audie. Sadly my audie left the business and my ENT transferred to a new state with no notice to patients. Things are finally going smoother I think. (PA Insurance liasson for Cochlear)has been working with me and telling me what to do. And my audie is finally agreeable to filling out a form that I can't do without her. And for all of you who are wondering why I don't just find another CI Center: Well this one is the closest to my home and I'd rather not go too much further into the city (Philiadelphia) than I have to. Hopefully, mine will be ordered sometime in the foreseeable future and hopefully my insurance will cover it. Keep those Upgrade stories coming!!!! Patti Surgery Day 11/2502 (What A Day!)
