Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! You will find that we have lots of mothers of twins in our group so you will be in good company. It sounds like you are working diligently to get help for your son - good for you!! The casting process is quite dramatic, but it is very quick and your son will not remember any of it when it is all said and done. I do believe it is harder for the parents then it is for the baby! Have you checked out www.plagiocephaly.org/support? This is a GREAT webpage with all sorts of info about plagio including some good info on the casting process. Insurance companies very often try to deny saying the treatment is cosmetic. My insurance company did that and after all the appeals and denials my claim was submitted to an External Review Board who ruled that the treatment was medically necessary and my insurance co paid. It was a long hard road, but well worth the fight. You are correct in your statement that plagio CAN lead to other medical conditions if not treated. (At least most believe this - not all specialists agree) More and more insurance companies are coming back and paying for this treatment so I do believe that helmet/band therapy is becoming a more accepted form of treatment for plagio. Welcome once again and let us know the eval goes on the 19th. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
