Ted,

Hope the phone call goes well, I think it will, if you have done well otherwise.

I know I was able to understand my dad on my first call to him, and that was my

first phone call. I was a bit nervous, but everything worked out fine.

As far as the airport, Silly and I went through a couple, a year or so

ago, I guess. It wasn't bad. We just sat close to the (whatever you call the

person who announces the flight and takes your ticket... ticket taker??? LOL),

anyway, sat close to them, told them we were hearing impaired, and made sure we

got on the right flight. Going through the scanner thingy's was just fine...

well, except I forgot to take my cell phone off and had to have the wand used on

me. The scanner thingy didn't wipe out my maps or any of that so-feared stuff

either. If you're worried about that, you can show them your card and ask to be

wanded. Make sure you have the card from Cochlear (I believe you have the

Freedom implant?) and they can wand you. I wish you the best in understanding

the women relatives, and I think you'll have time to test that out before you

leave, with your family and people in your area.

Keep us posted on all your progress.

Take care,

Cin

Re: Person age be reason?

Thanks. It wont be for a few hours yet. I will hear him OK, its just a

matter of how much I hear. I could hear them with hearing aids, but my

comprehension was very poor, so I got out of the habit of answering or

using the phone. I am also flying down to see them for a few days in a

couple of weeks time, so I will be going through a couple of airports,

that should be fun :-). I will also be able to see how much I can

understand of my daughter-in-law and the grandchildren. I always had

problems with womens and childrens voices. Hopefully the C.I. will have

addressed some of those problems.

Ted,

Thanks for the laugh... should I call her " my mean sis, " ? Heheheh.

(I'm ducking to avoid Silly's smack to my head) LOL.

Hello

I just posted about the phone call, it went extremely well, thanks.

I am used to airport travel with my hearing aids, but this will be

the first time I have travelled with the implant. The only thing I

was concerned about was my maps getting wiped. While it may only be a

slight risk, I wont take it. I would rather be hand scanned.

ps - You might need to change Silly 's name for that newspaper

article :-)
