I was just proposing this to an attorney who has mold in his family. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA -- IT'S TIME FOR THIS. I see an immediate hurdle with accomodations for the attendees -- like housing. I certainly can't go and stay in most motels -- do you think we could get a permit to camp on the White House lawn? Ha! There's the travel costs as well, as many who have finally ended up here have been far enough through the wringer as to be tapped out financially, etc. etc. Hey, there's logistical problems with any large event --still, it should be workable. If you would like to take the bull by the horns, go for it. I'm sure you will find many people that will be willing to help. I do foresee several problems though; trying to get most of the mold victims to Washington at an affordable cost. As you know most of us are financially strapped to begin with. But this is essential and really needs to take place. The numbers could be very overwhelming. I would be very concerned as far as finding " safe " hotels for many mold sensitized individuals or chemically sensitive. I think this also needs to be done in the cooler part of the year, such as, Sept, Oct or Nov. Since many would not be able to take the heat in the middle of the summer. I think we would have disasterous results. Timing is everything. Also, since it would be very difficult and costly to get everyone there especially from the MidAtlantic/West Coast that it might be more feasible for most of us to ralley on our state capitals and the locals on the east coast could still make a great showing on Washington. I also wouldn't mind marching on the front steps of the CDC. I think we need to discuss this further, but in greater detail. I leave this afternoon and will be gone again until Thursday for a conference. I have been asked to sit on a national standards committee to help write remediation standards for the industry. It is the first time someone from a " consumer group " has been asked to participate. So, if anyone has any questions, comments or complaints that should be addressed in this field,please let me know so that we can take them into account during the process. This is a huge step for the industry and hopefully we can get some of the issues addressed. I know some of you had specific problems with content remediation, so if you have any ideas about what you think should be done to help ensure " clean " contents, please let me know. You have been discussing a rally at the capital, I think it may be more effective if we coordinate a national effort to meet on the same day at our state capitals. We could get local media to cover each state event and get more publicity. Also, the states have been more willing to address the issue than at the federal level. As some of you may know,Conyers', who sponsored the " Toxic Mold Protection Act " has sued President Bush for his war policy. This being the case, his bill is now dead.The problem would be getting state coordinators for each state and organization it. Let me know if you would be interested in doing this and maybe we can get it done for the next session. I think most states start their sessions around Feb/March. Guest guest Posted May 9, 2004 Report Share Posted May 9, 2004 If there was to be a rally...there would be no need for police etc. All they would do is spray the area for whatever they could conjure up (West Nile, Gypsy moths etc.) get the picture. Or even treating lawn with weed killers. No one who is chemically injured would be going unless they knew they were protected and there will be no protection. Same for mold victims. Your power is on the 1st tuesday of November. Remember all the candidates are going to start the telephone polling of voters in their respective districts. Open your mouth by refusing to vote for them unless they do something, show up at their rallies where you are allowed to ask questions. I know how incumbent campaigns and also grassroot campaigns are run, have been working on friends for years. When they poll you they are tallying up and making notes. Wnat to give them a BIRDS EYE VIEW of your problem, volunteer on their campaign and then ask for accommodations....get the picture. It's amazing how many people will state they also have or know someone with the same problem. Silence is not golden in the cases of mold and chemical poisonings.
