Jules -- sorry to not reply sooner. I tend to not check this board all that

often

anymore.

First, if you know you have a seller cover-up, I would get my hands on a good

real estate attorney and file non-disclosure litigation against them. They will

likely tender the litigation to their insurance company -- who have deep

pockets to pay a settlement. (Which is a good thing for you!!!)

IMHO, cross contamination is a worry, but blown way out of proportion. In every

instance you mentioned, cross contamination may have all ready existed.

Molds are in the air. Who is to say your mother doesn't all ready have

Penicillium spores in her home as a result of bringing them in from the outside?

How do you know your boyfriend hasn't got mold in his car due to leaving his car

window open during a storm? Or in his apartment as a result of steam from

showers or cooking? Like I said, cross contamination is over-blown, IMHO.

Key in remediation is drying the structure out and removing all contaminated

materials. I am here to tell you it can be done. My home has been " clear " of

abnormally high mold levels since 2000 -- after a successful remediation that

took months to complete, but was certainly worth the effort. I am -- as a

result of

breathing in spores in high concentration during diagnosis of the mold problem

-- hypersensitive to mold. I can react within hours of exposure. I am living

in this

house with no ill affects -- but had to go through the nightmare of remediation,

reconstruction, and litigation to get to the other side.

If you love your home, don't let a stupid, ignorant, and/or greedy seller rob

you

of it. Make sure they are made to reimburse you for your trouble, heartache,

and frustration.
