Guest guest
What a pleasant surprise it was to open my mail this morning and to read all the nice comments about my books. Thanks to everyone! The reason for writing my first book was to inspire others to have the CI.I wrote the 1nd book to inspire others to never give up if they have problems with their CI. For those who have read my 1st book you may recall that at my 40th class reunion I was profoundly deaf.I was scheduled to have my CI implanted not long after the reunion. When I introduced myself I told my classmates that I would be able to hear them at the next reunion. This past Saturday was my 50th reunion and i was able to converse easily with my classmates. They were so happy for me and they gave me a standing ovation when I introduced myself. What did I do at the convention?Several classmates asked me about the CI and I was able to encourage a couple classmates. One is a candidate but was afraid to go ahead with surgery. After speaking with me he now is much braver.Another has been told about the CI but he didn't think that Medicare paid for it.He is now going to go ahead.I also was able to speak with the Grandparents whose grandson is deaf and to encourage them to visit a CI center. To me..this is what it is all about! Love Dora Oh,my 1st book ,Journey out of Silence,is now out of print.I Danced-A cochlear Implant odyssey is still available.it is a sequel to my 1ST book but i also review much of what i shared in my 1ST book.I have also recently published a children's book..not about CI'S.i am including a copy along with an order for I Danced. Mati the Mattress can also be purchased individually. Dora Weber Nucleus Volunteer Advocate dora_weber@...
