Guest guest
Illana, I hear everything very, very base...so base in fact that it sounds like wha, wha, wha....I think everyone hears differently. It sounds like you are doing very well. Are you going to Aural (speech) therapy. I just found out that insurance will pay, and I know it will benefit me and my hearing...try it. Guest guest
Speech processors have been designed for us to hear speech and therefore do not process all the really low bass sounds. While users may perceive differences in sound quality when changing the speed of the program, it doesn't mean that changing to a slower speed creates more bass sounds. My map goes down to about 108 (Hz is it?) which means that is the deepest bass sound my processor receives. My experience with bass sounds is that they took the longest for me to perceive....and I don't get all of them in my implant. Ask your audie about your map. I want to hear the deeper sounds as it is and not in high pitch, is that possible with 900Hz and less? I want to hear bass sounds and the higher sounds. A CI user once told me that it's NOT AT ALL POSSIBLE TO HEAR BASS SOUNDS WITH A CI. HELP!! Guest guest
It sounds like you need a map with stronger high frequencies. If you are not getting those soft speech sounds like /s/, /sh/, /t/, /f/, etc then tell your audie. Guest guest
Ilana, These numbers are NOT the frequency we hear, they are the speeds that the strategy runs at. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused. & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/

Guest guest
Hello, Illana, Please ask your audi to try mapping your processor with an emphasis on the low frequencies. Your audi will understand what that means. She can also bring down the high frequencies, and through trial, error and practice, you may get the sound you are looking for. ) Jackie
