Mold not harmful note

It seems that ours is not the only apartment in this complex that has had an

ongoing mold problem. The manager left letters on everyone's front door of an

article that was in The Dallas Morning News from Dr. Gailen D. Marshall, Jr,

director of the Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology at the University of

Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. This doctor claims that mold ls harmless

and the article uses all those words that have become so familiar to us such as

, hype, hysteria, get-rich-quick scheme and questions whether we are genuinely

ill. He states that there is no scientific evidence to support any claims of

mold illness and adds that we should not pay for a mold test nor move out of a

mold infested home or worse, have the home torn down based on this unfounded

" hysteria " . One thing this tells me is that the apartment manager has admitted

there is a widespread mold problem and has determined that it is _not_ a problem

at all. Worse than that, we were told by someone who had just moved into an

apartment here that he was made to sign a paper that said the apartment had been

inspected for mold and was determined to be mold-free. We have also heard from

another tenant here whose records of request for repairs due to water intrusion

were also removed from his file and destroyed. If mold is so harmless, what are

they so scared of?
