Guest guest
I only know in my experience and story. The Union people did not want to get involved. All OSHA did was ask the Commander of the Shipyard about it and he said, "The basement is shut down and Janet is taken care of" Which was bullshit, excuse me. I was forced to try one old building after another. I left one in an ambulance. The Union and the clinic doctors laughed at me and said I was crazy. They forced me to retire. The people put in place, in the federal sector anyway, to help are NOT REALLY THERE TO HELP. They all have the same boss and I understand Human Resource gets awards for saving the government money on trying NOT to let people win Workmen's Comp cases. Like I said. My own experience. Guest guest
Anita, You are lucky with your union and OSHA. In my case no one wanted to mess around being a federal government facility. You wouldnt believe the lies. Good luck to you. God Bless, Janet
Guest guest
<< I only know in my experience and story. The Union people did not want to get involved. All OSHA did was ask the Commander of the Shipyard about it >> My story -- State OSHA had been to my office building twice since 2000 -- **in an advisory capacity** -- before I started working there. I wrote a state OSHA complaint (on form from their website), union rep signed and forwarded it to state OSHA, and they were out doing testing within a week. (My union rep works in ANOTHER contaminated state building, so that may have helped.) Not sure if it was the right testing -- haven't received results yet -- but it's a start. Depending on what strains of mold they identify, I will return to my allergist to be tested for those specifics, and then go to my workers comp hearing in June with some specifics. In the meantime, I work in a situation where I can arrange to be out of the office a lot. I know I am fortunate in this regard. A fellow employee cannot come out of her windowless office without severe respiratory distress -- but hse never filed an OSHA complaint and has been pretty much ignored.
