I am Nucelus 22 and have it about 15 yrs now. I am using ESP 22

behind of ear processor. But also my only 5 electrodes are off that

are not used for the reasons because two wires came out makes 2

electrodes off then other 3 electrodes for pains or something else so

made it to 5 electrodes off so I had it few weeks ago. But I hear

normal sounds and everything right now. I hear many different sound

enviromentals but still learning,practice,listen and pay attention

but it comes to natural to me when it direct to me to discovery find

these sounds what I hear. I don't know how long I have not hear

normal sounds and just heard strange or weird sounds before. But even

I am still adjustment lot and lot and have to get to used to these

normal sounds. I am still trying to learn about low and medium tones

but still working and practice from sound and beyond program. But

one thing I know I will not able to hear 8 of tones that what is on

pure tone discrimation in sound and beyond program this time that my

audologist and i been through on tone program on sound and beyond to

see. But even I am still work and practice on tones lot at home on

sound and beyond program. But I am making my lists about not hear

tones,high easy to hear loud tones but figure out which is the tones

that are quiet or difficult ones to figure out later. I figured it

out that I am having a problem find a match and not match that are

low or something but only loud tones that can hear are easy for me to

tell. Then later we go through tones with different ideas to do

different steps or learning skills sometimes. Even I do not know

about the pitches yet. But it is hard steps for me right now. But I

am very confused about sounds and my hearing this time. It is really

much different now than before what I been had it. But we are

learning and research about my difficulties ones issues this time to

figure out. I just made my lists now that what I heard many different

sounds like cup tapping sound, any balls bouncing sounds, beeps to

turn pages the book of book with tape player when i tried with

children,crying,laugh,different voices even i am adding if I hear new

sounds on list when times comes to me. Even I have to keep my diary

experience journals about anything all the time now that what I been

told to do. But they are watching me closely about everything and

plus tracking everything because of my issues. Now I am start learn

and doing good with musical medeloy in sound and beyond program but

still practice with musical medeloy thing. So it is difficult

experiences for me this time. Colleen

This was a great post, Colleen. I really enjoyed reading it. It

sounds as if you have been thru quite a journey with your implant and

have weathered it well. Wow - even after havng had your surgery 15

years ago, you are still hearing more and more and that is great to

read. I hope this continues for you.

Thank you for sending this very informative message. It's really nice

to read what is going on with those members of our group who were

implanted with older versions. It just helps to show the wide

diversity of the membership of CI Hear.

Also, thanks for pioneering for us so that those of us who came after

you have gained the benefit of the knowledge gained from those who

were brave enough to take a chance when all this was new.
