Guest guest
Hello all. I was implanted on Jan. 25 and was activated last Thursday. It is nothing like I expected. I am happy and disappointed at the same time. What i am hearing in my implanted ear is not really sounds but echos in my head, so it seems. Has anyone ever experienced this? If I turn my head when someone is talking it seems like I am not hearing it but feeling it in my head. I really don't know how to describe this, as I don't know what hearing is suppose to sound like. I had my worst ear done which had very little hearing left in it. Could it be possible that it is not loud enough? At my second mapping I went a little louder than the first but I am afraid I am going too loud. My audi says this is normal. My next mapping is next week and I will ask if I can try to go louder. I can still wear my HA but all that really does is makes my Ha sound a little louder. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks April

Guest guest
Carol, Your head may still be swollen, so when that disappears, the magnet strength could be reduced. Or they can piggyback 2 magnets together, after all they will stick to each other! They can do a 5 and a 1, or 5 and a 2, etc. But make sure they keep an eye on it so when the swelling goes down it doesn't mess up your skin. Congratulations, the journey has just begun. Hi Folks...I was activated on 19 Nov 09 after my surgery on Oct 20. I have been able to hear almost immediately and it's wonderful to hear sounds I haven't heard in a very long time. No problems to talk about except the strongest magnet available (#5) is not strong enough for me so they're looking at getting me a custom magnet. The Tech says I have very thick skin...but I think she meant I have a fat head (smile). Fortunately the Snug Fit keeps my CI from slipping off my head. With the holidays, I really haven't had chance to start the rehabilitation program yet, but I know I have to get on it if I want to get the most out of my CI. ____________________________________________________________ Online Psychology Degrees Earn your psychology degree online.
