Guest guest
Group, I live and operate in the Washington DC area. I am right across the street (I-395) from the Pentagon - literally. I can see it from my rooftop. While I'm surprised either of the two candidates for president could make a statement with any clarity on the subject, I still see the typical ideology of each party in what they said. REPUBLICAN: Make it cheap for the building owners and insurance companies while providing little funding for research in environmental or medical areas. let's ignore the homes while telling everyone we don't want big government intruding in our lives. You won't see much in the way of regulation from them since regulations cost money to enforce and cost building owners and insurance companies to cover. Ebenezer Scrooge wants your votes. DEMOCRAT: We fix everything by banning everything. We look busy talking but, we never get anything done because our party is filled with leftwing zealots who hug trees when there not protesting at the World Bank (and causing economic ruin to small business owners). Kerry seems to be caught in the anti-chemical movement and forgot the subject was mold. Someone should tell him natural chemicals like concentrated orange oil can become formaldehyde with ozone oxidation. Let's clean with all natural products they say. Joe Isuzu wants your votes. BOTTOMLINE: LOL, elected officials will say whatever in a tight race but, they almost never get anything done the following year when it counts. If they really wanted to do something they would have homes and buildings independently inspected (special inspection) for moisture related construction practices as a condition of a permit. contact the International Code Council if you want real change. Most structures are inspected for fire safety, structure and energy efficiency issues. Nobody checks to see if windows and doors are installed with flashing. Nobody checks to see if the HVAC systems are correctly installed. Nobody keeps property insurance companies in check - that limits contributions to both parties. The elected officials can make rules and policy statements but, they never address the homes where families are ruined. (1) The home is the biggest investment made in the lifetime of the average person where they raise families. (2) New home sales are a major economic indicator. (3) Homes receive the least inspection compared to builidng by building code officials. (4) Homes are far more complex to solve since their building materials generally don't involve steel studs and concrete. (5) It is hard to put Jr. through college if you lost your shirt in a moldy home. Jr. can flip burgers and be a tax burden rather than a taxpayer. What a life! Neither of these presidential candidates is a economic genius if they can't see the picture. We should have listened to Ross Perot. I don't see either party being in touch with the common person. They are blinded by their past ideology. Ralph Nader is a political terrorist. Regards, Greg Weatherman Aerobiological Solutions Inc. Arlington VA 22202 gw@... PS I see more than most inside the beltway - as they say.
