I have been suffering lower back = pain so my sweet dr. said I needed an MRI. This is related to the Interstitial Cystiti= s.... or perhaps not. He said there could be neurological damage. I asked if it could be rel= ated to the mold and other chemicals I was exposed to. Last time he said " Maybe " . This = time he said no-- it was most likely due to the radiation I had when I had cancer. = Hissssss. I then found this quote when I did a search on Elmiron, a medicine I am not s= ure I want to take. " There are two current theories for the cause of IC, says UAB urol= ogist L. Lloyd, MD. " The first suggests a defect in the protective epithelial = permeability barrier — the glycosaminoglycan layer — of the bladder. It also is possible= that interstitial cystitis is not a cause-specific entity, but a syndrome, chara= cterized by bladder inflammation provoked by infectious, inflammatory, mechanical, alle= rgic, autoimmune, environmental, or neurogenic stimuli.
