Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am Janice from Miami, Fla. I just had a cochlear implant in December. Already, I see benefits. I hope you guys can help me here... You see, I am deaf blind with absolutely no vision left (I have Usher Syndrome) SO that means I rely solely on Braille. Can use the computer with a braille display and a software for blind users. Because I was forced to change health insurance, this has delayed me a bit in receiving auditory training. Both the old and new insurance are not normally accepted by my dr's team but with a special permission, I am able to use their services. I have to wait a bit to get permission to start therapy. For now, I am looking for a software that I can work with at home to start training. I have already started some training with my hearing husband but I would like to do more. SOme softwares are not accessbile because of graphics not having any text labels. Does anyone know of a software I can use? I know that " Sound and Beyond " is no good. I am still waiting to hear back about the new one from Advanced Bionics called " Making The Connection " ALso, form what I am told, there are a few of you who are deaf blind. DOes anyone have a bilateral (two) cochlear implant? I am seriously considering a second one. But for now, my primary concern is getting auditory training. So help! Please! Thanks for your help...
