Guest guest
Hi Deb, Sorry you aren't hearing as well as you'd hoped by now. How many mappings have you had? Have you had any recently? Because in the first year, you need several mappings until you are understanding speech. Next, have you had any AV therapy? That is Audio Verbal, and it teaches you to hear as well as to listen. Your insurance should cover it for you. Keep getting mappings until you hear the way you should. And the therapy should help you as well. Meanwhile, you can get books from the library and the same book on tape and listen to the book being read, while you read it. That can help you understand speech better. Practice is the key, but you need a good map for starters. Good luck, The Original debmitnick@... lesdeb18 Sun Dec 10, 2006 2:54 pm (PST) Hi I hope you remember me ..To refresh yoour memory I am 40 years old and born deaf. I do hear a lot of enviornmental noises which is nice but when I am in the house, or in the mall, or driving in the car I am having very hard time hearing voices bec I hear the engine etc.... With hearing aid I was able to hear voices in the car or outside,,, I was able to respond when people called my name but now with the implant theres no way I know when people calling out my name in public places..
