Greetings,

I can't believe we've been home for over a week. We wanted to

fill you all in about MD Awareness Week and what we accomplished

while in Washington.

On Monday we began our quest to deliver the packets to Congress.

The poor delivery guy from Kinko's went through quite an ordeal.

First, the van had to be checked out by the bomb sniffing dog,

before entering the Rayburn Building. Then, the Anthrax check,

then all paperwork had to go through X-Ray...

Each packet was approx. 75 pages with stories of victims,

medical info, and over 800 petitions. Every U.S. Senator and

Representative as well as doctors and others received a packet;

over 600 packets in total. Everyone worked so hard. Sharon Kramer

is amazing, she actually compiled the information with lots of help

from volunteers.

Over the next several days, we made our deliveries, speaking

personally with staff members or directly to the elected official.

Although this was exhausting and time consuming, it was time well

spent. As it gave us the opportunity to raise the level of

understanding and awareness of what so many of us are going through

that have been injured by toxic levels of mold. Our determination

to educate our elected officials, the only ones who can help us,

is crucial to the success of this very important health crisis.

Volunteers/Victims delivering our message included Katrine s

(MA), Mulvey son (MA), Sharon Kramer (CA), Frederick Holl

(DC), (MA), Lee (CO)

On Wednesday morning, the gang took over the offices of Congressman

Conyers, Jr. preparing binders for the Congressional Press

Conference and Briefing. These binders were organized and compiled

through the efforts of Dr. Simone Sommer of MAPER Coalition.

Behind the scenes hustle and bustle, the Press Conference was

excellent.

The speakers included: Bianca Jagger, Simone Sommer, MD, MPH,

Conyers, Jr (MI), Delauro (CT), Eliot Engel (NY),

Barbara Lee (CA), Sheila (TX), Donna Christensen (VT),

and Segal, JD Legislative Aide for Congressman Conyers.

During the press conference we were completely amazed and excited

that Democratic House Minority Whip, Congressman Rangall

(D) N.Y., ranking member of the House Ways and Means committee,

signed on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 1268, The U.S. Toxic Mold Safety

and Protection Act.

Next, the briefing, sitting on the dias prepared to speak;

Lee , Lucas-, Jeff O'Connors (OH),

JoEllen Lawson, CT Foundation for Environmentally Safe Schools,

Lillard of Mold-Help, Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker (MD),

Feveit, Director of Indoor Environmental Standards

Organization and AerotechP & K Laboratories, Bart on of

BARCO Environmental Remediation Co. (MD), Glenn Fellman,

Exec Director of Indoor Air Quality Association and Indoor

Environmental Communications (MD), Dan Bryson,

JD of and Law Firm, Katrine s (MA).

Moving speeches of personal devastation and illness brought

many to tears. Child victims Josh Sommer (age 16) and

Gagnon (age 9) told of the painful effects of moving, new schools

and illness.

During the briefing, Mulvey son from Boston, MA.,

presented Congressman Conyers with a Citation offered by Asst.

Majority Leader of the Massachusetts State Senate, n Walsh,

recognizing the goals of MD Awareness Week and increasing

awareness of health concerns regarding

mold.

With copies to Bianca Jagger, Dr. Simone Sommer, MAPER Coalition,

Sharon Kramer, MD Awarenessand , Mold Relief, Inc. The

remainder of the afternoon was spent in meetings and lobbying.

In the evening, a reception was held in the Rayburn Building.

Congressman Conyers and Legislative Aide, Segal were

presented plaques, by Dr. Sommer and her son Josh in gratitude

for their years of tireless efforts on behalf of raising awareness ...

Followed by , Mold Relief, Inc. announced The Children's

Angel Fund. This fund is designed to provide gifts for the children

of families financially devastated by mold. An angel ornament,

designed and donated by Eastern Reproduction, Inc. of Waltham, MA,

was presented to Bianca Jagger, Congressman Conyers, Segal,

and Dr. Sommer recognizing their support with this project.

The 24kt gold plated ornament will be given to sponsors supporting

efforts to help these children.

On Thursday.........Dr. Sommer, and Congressman Conyers were

interviewed on a televised show with Lester Wolf, a retired

Congressman.

Look for further updates in the near future. Here and on the

MDAwareness.com website.

We want to thank all of the people who were kind enough to share

their stories, called their legislators and the various environmental

agencies. Without yourassistance and caring we could not have

accomplished all that we set out to do. We ALL are making headway

in bringing this to the forefront.

With special thanks to (KC), Director of Health and Human Services,

Mold Relief, Inc., and his wife Sharon, www..com

their knowledge and friendship are what make the difference

to make it all work.

If you have any questions, you can e-mail me.
