Hi Janet, Lorri, and Rose,

My daughter is 15 and she has had a tough time being able to attend

school because of illness and allergies to the school environment. It has

been tough for her to make any friends at the high school (she is a freshman).

I think she would enjoy talking to other girls who are going through the same

problems.

It seems kinda like the day before a really bad next few days that you're really

tired, disoriented, weak and sore all over. I think i've noticed too, that the

metallic taste on my tongue is a sure bet that i'll feel like hell for a few

days. The next day is waking up scared early in the morning, because you can't

breathe and it feels like your lungs are gonna stop working if you don't stay

awake and make yourself take deep breaths........you can't get up to go outside

for fresh air or to the kitchen to breathe boiling water or even roll over

because your limbs throb but are numb at the same time. You feel like your

heart's beating out of your tight, full of something chest and you'll die any

minute but can't let it happen because you've gotta at least make it to the

bathroom for the diarrhea first. The taste and the smell of everything,

including yourself....hair and clothes and skin is horrible and only makes you

more nauseous. There's alot of sinus drainage along with extreme

dryness in your throat and nasal passages.....you cough until you vomit, you're

weak and shakey and can barely stand up for days. Other things happen....sweats

then chills, burning sensations around your mouth, off-the-wall sharp shooting

pains here and there, extreme dizziness and flu-like pain and stiffness in your

back, neck and head. The good news is, they make Nyquil for flu

symptoms.....the bad news is....it ain't the flu.

It doesn't get any easier than this.

I put a 3 pound brisket in my small (1.5) crockpot and covered it with R.W.

Knudsen's Very Veggie Vegetable Cocktail from concentrate.  This is the health

store version of V8 I think, and contains water, tomato paste, organic

vegetable juices (carrot, celery, parsley, beet, lettuce, watercress, spinach),

organic vinegar, concentrated organic lemon juice, sea salt and dehydrated

organic

bell peppers.  I added 3 bay leaves and 4 cloves of garlic, but am not sure I

would bother next time.

That's it!  Salt and pepper to taste when eating.  Reheats beautifully.  My

brisket was from an organic cow, so needed a lot of cooking.  I cooked on slow

about 6 hours and refrigerated overnight.  Skimmed off the fat, and put it

back on to simmer the next day.  Super tender and very tasty.

Sounds wonderful Betsy. I'd like to try it. How long did you let it cook the

next day? Would 10 hours total be enough? I have a crock pot with 4, 6, 8,

and 10 hours for cooking time.
