Guest guest
Hi Kent, Faster strategies, or any programming strategies do not mean the same things to different people. While there may be trends, it's really all up to the " ear of the beholder " . For me, I needed to use faster speed ACE, 1200 for a while, to really understand speech. After I got used to the implant and was understanding speech, I ended up prefering 900 and then finally settled into 720 Hz where I am now. Also, it takes time and practice to relearn how to hear in noise and filter out backgroud sounds. This is not as easy when you only have one really good working ear but it is certainly possible for many implantees! I think the brain is already filtering out the background noise when it's paying attention to somebody or something. Little off the point, I have a question for everybody. How do we determine that the rate is appropriate for us or should we allow the audiologist to decide for us? After I finish reading all of your posts, I will send an email to my audi if it is possible to increase the rate of my processor because I keep getting confused when I hear some delayed phonemes.
