Guest guest
Hi Brittney: A word of caution ont he Fill Centers. One of our leading, winning, fantastic bandsters, Jennie Currie, wound up having to have her port removed and a new one installed after the infection healed from a fill center in Atlanta. I see from your email address that you might be a Western Carolina University alumni. Did you attend the campus in Cullowee? Just curious as we have a vacation home near there in Maggie Valley. Back on to the bandster issue. I would strongly suggest you plan on return trips to Dr. A or Dr. C. for fills in Mexicali. I do the Saturday fill date so that I don't miss work. If you book ahead, you can save on airfares and the cost is actually less than some fill centers after you add it all up. Make sure that whomever does your fill uses fluro. Otherwise, you can't be sure that they are not damaging your port--or in some instances even hitting it with the needle. There is a fill center here in Tampa that was missing the port completely and just injecting saline into the stomach. Hope things go well for you. Best of luck in your journey. Guest guest
Some of the FillCentersUSA are really good and some are not. Most of them are just bariatric surgeons throughout the country that don't mind filling Mexican banded patients. Some are doctors of other specialties that happen to be banded themselves and they don't mind filling folks. They aren't employees of FCUSA that are all trained by the same person and do things the same way. So some are really good and some are really bad just like bariatric doctors. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the advice on fills. I am in the Cullowhee/Sylva area. I am currently 3 semesters from graduation on my Social Work degree. I am planning to stay and get my masters as well.I will definitely attempt to find time to go back to Mexico for fills although it may be difficult with working two jobs and being a full time student. Thanks Again > > Hi Brittney: A word of caution ont he Fill Centers. Guest guest
I have yet to get banded but I am now awaiting my scheduling as my loan just got approved to pay for the banding. A fill is an injection of saline that makes the band tighter to restrict your food intake. No two people are alike in the amount of saline they need to get good restriction (or as some call it to their sweet spot)Therefore you will see many people get more saline than others and some may get a fill more time that others. Hope that helps. Brittney > > > > I am currently working on scheduling for my band surgery but was > > looking for a fill center ahead of time. Guest guest
I am in Sylva. I have found a center near Gastonia where my mom lives. There is one in Huntersville and Denver. I think I am going to go to the one in Huntersville. > > > > > > I am currently working on scheduling for my band surgery but was > > > looking for a fill center ahead of time. Guest guest
Congratulations on your band decision and on your college work. Since you are in the Sylva area, I understand that there is a doc in ville Tennessee that does fills. That is not too terribly far from you to drive if you decide to go that route. Guest guest
I am from Waynesville but now live in Tn. There is a fill Dr in Merryville Tn (just out of Knoxville) but I don't know any of the details. I just remember someone saying that there was a good Dr there. I remember Molly in NC was going there. Guest guest
You are the second or third person who has said that this doctor is good. I think I will attempt to get in over there when the time comes. Thanks > > > > > > I am currently working on scheduling for my band surgery but was > > > looking for a fill center ahead of time.
