I have a tip especially for those going alone to Mexicali. Call the

airline ahead and ask that someone meet you with a wheel chair for your

flight home. It helps when someone glides you from the curb, through

security and right on to your gate.

PS: You can get a Passion Tea with a couple of squirts of sweetener at

Starbucks at the San Diego airport to take on board with you. Better

yet, have some beef or chicken bullion cubes handy and just add one to

hot water. Just keep a stirring stick in your cup because they are slow

to dissolve.

Hi Anne - Did the airline ask why you needed a wheel chair? No questions asked? I do need to catch a flight back from San Diego - connecting to Denver and then onwards to Toronto. I worry about running to catch the flight to Toronto when I get to Denver since it's different terminals. The airline will not require a letter from the doctor, etc.??

thanks,

Kathy

for those flying from Canada, even if we're Canadian citizens, we still have to pass through US immigrations to fly into the US at the airport, did you mention you were going to San Diego to cross into Mexicali for surgery or you just said you're going on holidays, etc, etc.?? Please advise what would be best to do in this situation if they will ask why I am flying to San Diego....

thanks,

Kathy

I took a packet of flavoring from Ramean Noodles to add to hot water. You can get a cup of hot water at San Diego airport at the Cinnamon Roll place as well as on the airplane.

On the way to San Diego I told US customs that my final destination

was Mexico. They didn't care what I was doing there, I guess they

just assumed I was having a holiday, but if they had asked I would

have told them I was going for surgery. It is not their country, so

they don't care why you are going there.

For the flight back, I told the airline that I was having surgery and

needed a wheelchair. The San Diego airport is so small that a

wheelchair was not necessary there, but I appreciated it when I got

off the plane in Vancouver. Actually they gave me a choice btween a

wheelchair and a golfcart, so of course I chose the golfcart. It was

nice to bypass the lineup at Customs, and to have someone else grab

my luggage.

Anita,

I did that also. I got the idea right here on the board. Yes,in San Diego the gates were just around the corner from the entrance, and that would have been an easy walk. But when I got to Seattle, it would have been a very long walk and I don't

'think I would have been up for all that walking yet. Loretta

They didn't ask me any questions at all but if you have your letter to

be off work from the doctor or something similar with you, it might

help to be on the safe side. Do it, it's nice...Anne
