Guest guest
Laurie, They asked me if I wanted one, * to help /w/ the pain after the sleeve I guess*.... I said yes, okay I will tell you it hurt. The big bandage was the drain hole, where the drain tube could drain into the bag. They patch it /w/ a 4x4 gauze pad and it stays open and they all heal from the inside out. My tummy was very bloated from the gas they use. *They pump the abdominial caitvy full so they can move organs easier and see what they have to work with* I will tell you the head hunger I am dealing /w/ is a biatch, I know I only have untill Friday untill I am at phase 2 and let me tell you I can't WAIT!!! I am down 12 lbs now since being home I am at 276 currently. Robyn >> > Here it is..... Guest guest
Hi Robyn It's me, . I'm in your photo album and I was one day behind you (my sleeve Th Aug 7th) with Dr Aceves. As a matter of fact, I was in the room next to yours at the Almater. After the procedure, I too felt discomfort but this was to be expected. You are not alone. There's no doubt that it's a lot harder to expel the gas then when it was first pumped in. Just try to stay focused on the goal line and never mind the tackle you just got hit with. We are now 6 or 7 days post op and the discomfort level we felt should be down 80 to 90 percent. Time is our friend, but our eyes are not. When I too see food on commercials, the food my family eats for breakfast and dinner, I also have a hard time adjusting. Yesterday, I prepared lean ground beef on the stove...it's very hard to smell the cooking knowing it's hands off. But we have to be focused and STRONG. It's now a mental game that we will win! I know you can do it. Listen to your new stoma, it's not ready for full liquids yet although the day nears you will graduate to full liquids, then soft foods. Don't listen to your eyes or your memory of great dining in the past. Mentally block it all out. We've been through the hardest time, now it's time for us to learn about eating properly all over again...like learning to ride a bike again. Only this time, we won't be burdened with the problems that come with walking this earth with considerable excess weight. Think how many people out there would love to be in your shoes as a post op patient with a sleeve. You deserve a big blue ribbon! You're doing great, keep your eyes on the goal line. My regards to . He's a great guy. > >> > > Here it is.....
