Birth control pills should be fine, no need to crush them.On Jan 2, 2008 1:54 PM, crashly24grl <ashleighqualey@...> wrote:

I just had surgery Dec 20th, 14 days ago. I had the sleeve done and

have already lost 18 lbs. Whoa-Ray!

My question is....will I also have to crush up my pills or will I

eventually be able to swallow my pills? I am reffering to my birth

control pills. They are pretty small in size, but I must take them

everyday!!!

Hi Ash,Congrats on your loss, that is wonderful!!! I have lapband and know for myself I crushed my BC Pill for the first 3 days after surgery then planned it so I would have a period and be off the pills for a week and I have never crushed them since. They are sooo small you shouldn't have any problem getting them down. I also take Ambein at night and within a week after surgery I stopped crushing those with no problems. Christa, Not sure if this answers your question but the drainage pipe on the sleeve patient goes out on day 2 after surgery, you go home without the drain. Lap band patients do not get drainage pipes. Incisions may drain anyway specially the port incision. I hope this helps. Nina Christa house <gnaedigunde@...> wrote: please, Heidi, do answer me. that's me ... I'm the little drainer these last 2 days.

Has anyone else experienced this as well? I confess to already being pretty emotional thus far, but I did receive a great follow-up today from Gaby at Dr. Aceves' office who covered all the port drainage symptoms very thoroughly (especially when I sit up and ooze more).

I just keep telling myself that at 400 lbs, this was the best thing to do long term for myself. My 16 year old son and hubby go on trips together with scouts, and though I don't plan on camping myself, I'd definitely like to participate rather than just be the one that makes the scrapbooks of their adventures :)

Hi Trish,

I was sleeved on Aug 9, 2007 and I was one of the lucky ones- no drainage after the tube was removed. But my girlfriend wasn't as lucky and it was over two months before she stopped draining.

I hope you are as pleased with the sleeve as I am and I wish you all the best to come. Who knows maybe you will go camping one day. That was one reason I choose the sleeve -so I could enjoy the things I use to before I gained all my weight. I have lost 75 pounds so far and i feel better now than I did at age 35( I'm 63) so I tell everyone -there is always hope and never give up that hope.

  • 7 months later...

I got sleeved on August 11th, and had been healing just fine.

Yesterday, 6 days after surgery, the incision a few inches above my

belly button suddenly started feeling hard and a little sore. Today,

it started oozing a little. Anything to worry about? Ideas or

advice???

Thank you for the reply, . I also got a very informative reply

from Gaby. I just emailed her some pictures so she could give me

some specific advice. I hadn't expected to hear from her, but feel

so relieved to have her looking out for me. I feel awefully blessed

to have received such attentive care from Dr. Aceves and his team!!!
