Guest guest
As far as pain goes, you'll be fine. They keep you there for 3 days, by that time you're ready to go. You'll be fine going home. Surgical stockings are applied during surgery and you wear them for about 2 days. No catheter was inserted when I woke up; don't think they use one, but if they do, they do it while you're out I think. I don't remember waking up with one, but I could be wrong. They get you up pretty quick and you're walking around the hallways. I didn't feel so hot the second day, but by day 3 I was fine. If you get a week off before returning to work, you'll be fine pain-wise; you might feel tired if you've been used to having a lot of carbs in your diet. You can only have clear liquids for the first 10 days, so that can leave you feeling depleted IF you've been used to having a lot of carbs which you should wean yourself off now. Otherwise, you should feel perfectly fine. Heck, I had a whole face lift 2 months ago, and I woke up completely fine, was in recovery for 40 min., and then out the door to home. That was here in Oregon, though. This vertical sleeve surgery was a breeze as far as surgeries go and the recovery was very quick. You'll wake up feeling good, trust me, and the trip home won't be any big deal at all. Hope this helps you. > > Well, I will be arriving in Mexicali on 5/26. Guest guest
Hi, First I am thrilled that you are getting your lapband removed. You are going to feel so much better after you have had this done. You will NOT have pain. They control your pain to well. And if you have some tell them, they will take care of it right away. They send pain meds home with you, but I never needed any. I think you will be just fine going back to work in 7 days. Please stay in touch. I really want to see you write about how different you life is after you have your sleeve. I think those who are thinking about a lapband need to hear how much better you feel, and you would be the perfect person to tell people that the lapband is NOT the answer. Guest guest
oh cool! You will still be there when I will be so we'll have to go for walks together or at least I'll peek in on you to see how you're doing. From my understanding we will have catheters when we wake up (ACK and ICK! scared of this lol). I totally understand about the fear of pain when waking up. I'm terrified of this because I have so much pain already (severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome). I understand though that he uses an epidural a lot of times, so we may have no pain at all, right? I've had my share of doubts (mostly my sanity) and the last few days have been the worst. I'm snappy and snarky and just a total b!tch lately. Guess it's an emotional time for people before surgery. Lynne, know this: I have researched so many surgeons and Dr. Aceves is the BEST! I know if I end up with complications then it was just meant to be and would have been much worse with a different surgeon. I know we're in the absolute best hands! I can't wait to meet you, see you there! ` Surgery date 5/27 Questions.... Well, I will be arriving in Mexicali on 5/26. Having surgery to revise Lap band to a sleeve on 5/27.
