Guest guest
Sounds pretty normal to me. It's not easy but with time it really will be easy. Revisions are harder than virgin stomachs. BTDT. I had a band then a sleeve. i just stayed on liquids pretty much until it was time for solids, it was just easier. There are protein drinks that are thinner and easier to get down, check out Syntrax Nectar line. Many flavors such as lemonade and raspberry. Don't buy an entire container, you might not like it. You can contact the company and buy a sample of each of their flavors. On Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 4:29 PM, Lynne <nolley2@...> wrote: Well, I got rid of the pesky lap-band and now have sleeve. Guest guest
Hi Lynne, I met you in the hospital. You were just coming in as I was getting ready to go home. I felt and still feel sometimes, just like you do. I can't get any protein shake to agree with me and so I'm trying to resort to whatever little bit of food I can get into me to get protein in. It's very hard sometimes, in fact, most times. I drink Gatorade to keep my electrolytes up because I don't want to end up dehydrated. Milk products don't agree with me, etc. You don't sound like a downer, you sound totally honest, it's hard. I thought I was ready for all the bumps a long the way but in reality I guess I wasn't. I'm not loving my sleeve yet, even though I've lost 29 pounds. I need to get past this hump and then I know I'll love it. The "hump" is heartburn from hell and unable to get in any protein, feeling terribly weak and worn down all the time. This will get better, just have to hang in there! ` 5/27 Band to sleeve revision. Guest guest
Hi, I am not sure what you are taking for your heartburn. Nexium DID NOT work for me at all. So, I now take the generic for Prilosec. You may need to take it more than once a day if you have it heartburn this bad. We have ALL said the that the 1st month is the hardest month you will do. Your old brain is driving you nuts--it still thinks you should feed it like you did in the past--head hunger it a BIG battle that you will have to overcome. It is very normal to only eat small tiny bites of things during these first 4 to 7 weeks. Your new small stomach is only about the size of your thumb at the start. It is swollen and so it can't hold a lot. After the swelling goes down and that take 4 to 7 weeks then you can eat a little more but not a lot--only 6 to 8 oz. I found that Premier Protein drink was the one that worked best for me and I get mine at Costco. And you will not be able to get 70 grams of protein in the first 4 to 6 weeks. It is something that will come in time. Do the best you can. Some people also like Muscle Milk and you can find that at Costco or Wal-Mart. When I had a upset stomach I also would eat a Sugar Free all natural Fruit popcycle. Get some and try them. With you stomach being swollen because of the surgery you just had the cold from the popcycle seems to help a lot. At first this is how it is, I promise it does get a lot better. There is NO way to prepare yourself for these first few months. Just take it one day at a time. Guest guest
--try coconut water found at the grocery store--it is full of electrolytes. And I did 90 grams of PROTEIN per day in the first 30 days by doing one GNC Isopure Shake {after day 10} and one GNC Isopure ZEROCARB drink. The shake is 50 and the zerocarb is 40 grams of protein. You cannot believe how great my NAILS look--the best in my entire life. I had no idea that I needed this much protein--but I do. I lost 27 in month one and am on my way to 10 pounds off in month two--and LOTS of inches OFF. Good Luck to you.
Guest guest
Everything I do right now is on a really tight budget as my husband has been laid off for almost 3 months and our savings is now depleted. I know there's no way that I can get anything at GNC right now, everything there costs more than an arm or leg and I can't see spending the money on it when I've heard so many people don't like the taste. I think someone did say they let you sample things tho, right? As it is all the protein shakes I've tried make me vomit. It's not the taste it's that they don't sit in my stomach at all, like it's to hard or something on it still. One I drank, New Whey, actually BURNED and caused me to have horrible heartburn. A friend sent me a few samples of hers to try out and it was ok, but only 15 grams of protein in 8 ounces. A bit low unless you're drinking shakes all day long, but it did sit well in my tummy. ` Re: 5/27 Band to sleeve revision. --try coconut water found at the grocery store--it is full of electrolytes. Guest guest
The upside of GNC is that if you try a product and don't like it you can return it within two weeks of purchase for a full refund. Open container plus receipt. Then you find what you like and order from a cheaper place. Guest guest
; I've got a big pile of Isopure that I do like but can't drink fast enough. It does have a texture that some people call various bad names but what I do with all my liquids is I dilute them -- no matter what I'm drinking including beer. The taste is still there, I'm getting more water, and I'm stretching my dollar. If you were anywhere near Monterey CA I'd even bring the stuff to you. My housemate is getting tired of it taking up the refrigerator and I have other drinks I've some to use more now. The thing about Isopure is it is meant to be taken after exercise....different than the stuff I use now at breakfast to get me through part of the day. LJ PS I understand the budget crunch. I'd be going for a revision if I had the bucks. From: ' Moller <widget1@...> Sent: Monday, June 20, 2011 1:47 AMSubject: Re: 5/27 Band to sleeve revision. Guest guest
Thanks, but I'm thinking the cost of gas to meet you half way may be more expensive than just running to gnc!
