Guest guest
Hello, Boy is it ever good to be back home! I just got back last night (1/14) after going to my sister's in Phoenix for 5 days right after my release from the hospital. I feared traveling such a long way back to NH so soon after surgery but I definitely could have made it. I'm so happy to report that I'm doing great. My recovery so far has been very uneventful. I still have a little pain when I take a very deep breath (such as to do the spirometer exercise) which goes from the bottom of the left side of my ribcage all the up to my shoulder and to the back of my neck. I read Sally Shaefer's story (hi Sally, great meeting you at the hospital) and she describes it all to a tee so I won't repeat all those details. I didn't and still haven't had any nausea though for which I am so grateful. Dr Gutierrez (sp?) was my Anesthesiologist and I liked him very much. I loved all the staff - they all make such a fantastic team! I met so many wonderful people there. I went solo too so if anyone is having reservations about going solo, no need to worry...just be sure to pack lightly. I got a wheel chair at the airports so that's an option if you fear too much walking. My BMI on the day of surgery was 33.8. I had lost 13 1bs from my all time high pre-op. Since surgery I've lost another 6 lbs. I'm only 4'10 " so am very happy with that! If any newbies out there are thinking about this surgery and have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
