Guest guest
Lauri, We worry about each and everyone of our Stills Family members. Please know that at one of us is thinking about you everyday, but more like all of us do, even those who do not write and express their thoughts and just lurk. I wish that you felt better, we all do. We all suffer from a certain degree of depression and show it in different ways, please dear friend and Stills sister, don't mutalate yourself, we beg you to stop...you now have somewhere you can go and talk it out, call one of us if you need too, or even if you don't. We are here as your support network take advantage of that and keep the lines of communitcation open...ok Take care, you're in our prayers Lorie in Seattle
Guest guest
Dear Laurie, Thank you so much for letting us know how you are! One thing about this support group is that we really do care about each other, and if you hurt we all hurt. Hoping the med you are now trying does help. As for your primary doc treating you for the Stills, I had wished that too, because my primary doc is a real sweety, and my (not anymore) rhuemy was a real bugger. There are some meds that the Primary doc can't prescribe, such as the Methotrexate etc. He told me he knew nothing about that med. and many of the others used in our cases. He didn't do Cortisone shots (rhuemy did) and I guess there are other reasons we need to see a specialist in addition to our regular doc. Have you looked for a different Rhuematologist yet? I do know that once an appointment is made that it *usually* takes awhile to get in to see one. But, for the sake of your physical and emotional well being, I would suggest a different rhuemy. Good news to hear you are as you say " keeping the demons in check. " Remember Laurie, you have control, you will beat this! Love & hugs friend, ~~tricia~~ Wisconsin ***************************************************************************** ************ -- I'm here Hey everyone.. I'm still here. Didn't mean to make you wonder what happened to me. It's just been a rough weekend and I've been so tired that it seems like all I have been doing is sleeping. I even slept through most of the day yesterday since I had off from work. I promise I'm keeping my " demons " in check. I look at the scars I just put on my hands and wonder what the heck I was doing. Hopefully it was just one terrible fit of desperation and lack of rational thinking. I really don't want to fall back into my old patterns. I'm going to take the Dexamethasone like my primary doctor asked me to - no matter what the side effects do to me. It's been 3 days so far and I haven't had quite the same reaction that I do when I take prednisone. Maybe that's a good sign. Still not sure where to go after that.. if only there was a way that my primary could treat me instead of having to see a rhuematologist. I'm sorry if I made any of you worry. I wish my husband had told me that there were emails looking for me, although he doesn't often read any of the stills emails. Lauri .. Guest guest
Helen As one who has had these darn low blood sugar attacks I feel so sorry for you, Do you carry something sweet in your car or your pocketbook to take at once when those first signs of slight weakness start, followed by much worse ! I find if I adhere to strict instructions for 5 meals a day that I am fine,if I am late for one, mostly breakfasts, I get shaky and weak. I keep glucose tabs in the car just in case. Don't overdo it please Helen we all love ya! The migraines might all connect to everything else, I got a whopping one after I passed out at one time Please do take care my friend, you are terrific making quilts etc, don't overdo it though .. I have to get a blanket for Alice who was put into a nursing home a month ago, her daughter never took care of her, the girl had numerous boy friends and forgot she was her mom's. caretaker, nice huh? Finally she was hospitalized and with what the doctor never diagnosed which turned out to be gall bladder trouble, she would cry when I called and say 'something is wrong' she almost lost her life because of this doctor, he kept giving her drugs until one day she started in with hallucinations. Oxycontin, Percoset, Steroids, Morphine patches All at once! Now I find out today that not one of her kids has visited her , I did ask what would be a good present to send her, the nurse said that she had no blankets other than those thin hospital blankets we all know about, so I am going to find her a nice one that the nurse said 'she could cuddle into at night' Isn't that a bummer? No proper blanket for your own mother, the kids are totally irresponsible apparently. I wish I could go visit, but am tied up here, it is 340 miles each way to Patchogue L. I. I hope your tree is holding up, an old farmer told me there is not much danger of mine splitting again until spring as the leaves are all off so, we both have reprieves from these awful crack willow trees. Hugs and love to you and all from snow country! Anne

Guest guest
I started the new job Monday. I like it very well. It’s such a refreshing change from my last job. The company bought us pizza for lunch today (Mellow Mushroom) and we got a memo today that there will be a monthly birthday party (not to exceed $30) at each office for the birthdays that month. My new insurance is better and cheaper and kicks in March 1, with vision & dental I’m still paying about $100 less per month for premiums than I was before. The only bad thing is that my office isn’t ready yet (waiting for computers and checks) so I have to drive to Buckhead every day which is 33 miles and 1-1/2 hours each way. YUCK! Guest guest
You're HALF right about Lea Ann--she's doing a 10-day show AND her laptop's broken. But she'll be back, never fear. Sorry to tell you this but I HATE coffee (although I love the smell), even as a flavoring--I find it absolutely nauseous About the only place I can stomach it is in honey cake in the fall when the High Holidays roll around and in Brown Cow chocolate yogurt which contains a little bit to help " fix " the chocolate; it's undetectable in both. However, I'm very much in the minority I'm sure--can you post it here? I'm here  I made an awesome raw apple pie today; I’vemade several and this is the best.  The recipe comes from Heathy (sp?) atsweetlyraw.com…I found out she is a trained chef, however, she turned toraw and now focuses on desserts mainly.  I’ve wondered for a longtime how she could keep coming up with some awesome desserts, now I know. I sent a coffee ice cream made in theVitamix given on a website to Lee Ann,but I’m guessing she’s either on vac. Guest guest
I don’t like coffee either !!! J….however, I LOVE coffee ice cream and I shared that coffee/avocado/coconut milk sushy I make on the other vitamix group. Someone tried it and said they didn’t realize it was so thick. Anyway, that’s the only way I like coffee ….ice cream, or that recipe, which is a taken off of an Indonesian coffee drink. Yes, I will post that recipe here…. Guest guest
My favorite substitute for coffee in recipes was Postum which I didn't realize was being discontinued by Kraft (apparently, the profits generated by fake cheese weren't enough to subsidize a 100+- year-old product). I didn't realize it and didn't stock up. Guest guest
I have to admit that one of my favorite restaurants--fast food, at that--was a place that sold sliders, including veggie sliders. I ALWAYS ordered them with cheese (American) and I almost cried when they closed without warning in the spring. They had really good hand-cut fries, too, and excellent shakes. I patronized them on and off for over 10 years--what a blow. Guest guest
They discontinued Postum. They cut out whole communities who loved it and don't consume caffeine (e.g. Mormons, Amish, and Seventh-day Adventists). The product had been around for well over 100 years and is the only coffee substitute I know of that actually tasted good (to me, at any rate). It didn't pretend to be coffee, i.e., it wasn't bitter. I hate when mega-corporations swallow smaller companies and then gut them and toss them out like trash. Re: Re: I'm here  Wait what? I grew up on Kraft cheese! What is wrong with kraft? Guest guest
Same thing happened here with our favorite Italian restaurant. It was a family restaurant, they’d been here for years, outstanding light sauce….awesome eggplant parmesan sandwiches on light crusty, crunchy rolls, oh my gosh….finally their son moved here from NY and started taking over in the kitchen. Unbelievable! Then, all of a sudden the family got sick and closed the doors. We haven’t been to an Italian restaurant since. Nothing can replace them!
