Christie,Congrats on your new sleeve!I will be a year out in Aug and remember having the same concerns! With liquids, they are constantly draining out of your tummy soon after you drink them, so it is hard to feel "full". You probably feel like you need to take a break before your next sip, but it isn't long before you have room to swallow some more! I never felt full or satisfied on liquids.I thought that I was just a fast healer (still believe I was) and didn't have the restriction that those who had surgery around the same time as me because I healed faster and didn't have as much swelling. I still believe that was the case to some degree, but stepping up to the mushies really showed my restriction. I remember I made "ricotta bake" and was so excited to dig into something with substance! I got two glorious bites in and hit a brick

wall! I remember feeling so disappointed that I had waited so long for this and it was soooo good I wanted to eat the whole thing! LOL! You will definately see a difference when you start on more solid foods. I remember a can of tuna with a little mayo and shredded cheese was about 5 meals! Have no fear! You will soon see just how much restriction you really have! Sent from my iPhoneOn Jul 30, 2011, at 8:13 PM, "christie" <salazarchristie@...> wrote:

Hello everyone! Thank you all for your well wishes! I had my sleeve done on Monday and everything has been great so far, for the most part. I was wondering if any of you were able to eat (Jello) and drink drink quite a bit with out any issues? I'm not complaining but I'm wondering if that's normal and IS my sleeve actually working? I can drink a whole mug of broth and not feel full... Another question, my stomach is constantly growling and everything goes strait through me, have any of you experienced this? Thanks everyone for for your imput!

PS - Hope my hospital-mates are all doing well! It was nice meeting you ladies :)

Krista thank you so much for the info! I'm glad I'm not the only one with this concern :) I'm excited to see what happens when I can eat real food again. Hi Christie

Good to see you are doing well, I'm glad we got the chance to meet. I'm not

really having exactly the same experience as you, I'm having a hard time

drinking, but not really because I can't. I just can't stand taking sooooo many

sips! Guess I have to get used to that. I will tell you, though, that I can

east jello (only about 1/2 pre-made cup) at one sitting without any difficulty.

I don't really ever feel full, just bloated at times. In fact, I think I feel

hungry and my stomach is constantly growling and making weird noises too. Do you

feel hungry? I don't know what head hunger is, exactly, but this feels like

real hunger.

Jen...I don't ever really feel full either, I'm not sure if I'm hungry or just want to eat, you know what I mean? I was looking at post on obesityhelp and I found a link for the Cornel university gastric sleeve post diet... We'll it said that we can already eat blended foods. So I tried mashed potatoes today and an egg. It is actually hard to eat! I was pleasantly surprised, after the liquids and jello was so easy for me. I feel like the sleeve was doing it's job! Anyways.... I hope you get the drinking thing down. Have you lost weight yet? I've lost about 10 lbs but it's not noticeable yet.Sent from my iPadOn Aug 1, 2011, at 8:15 AM, "jengyrn3" <jengyrn3@...> wrote:

Christie,I will be 1 year out on the 27th and I couldn't be happier. I am down 125lbs and have 40 more til goal, but I unexpectedly got pregnant in March, am about 19 weeks, so obviously my weight LOSS isn't priority. I am confident after this, my goal will come quick! I haven't gained anything so far, but baby is growing just fine! I struggled initially with the possibility of gaining weight and getting fat again and everytime I would put something in my mouth, there was a voice warning me of my past. I call her my inner anorexic. She was probably there before, I just couldn't hear her through all the fat!Almost a year out, I still have excellent restriction. I had pizza the other night (a rare treat) and can't even finish a medium-sized slice of thin crust. I mostly pick at the toppings and eat the crispy crust part and I'm stuffed! For lunch at my desk, I have

the small "half size" can of tuna with a little mayo and shredded cheese and I'll eat slowly, but can finish it in my hour. Some days I feel I can eat more and think "wow, I really pigged out!" then I look at my hubby's or a friend's plate and it amazes me what I consider "a lot"! Eating out is now not worth it...even an appetizer is too much. The kids menu is too much! We went to Cracker Barrel for lunch today and I got a tenderloin biscuit. I ate the steak from it and about 1/4 of the biscut...don't know if you are familiar with that place, but they don't have the enormous biscuts and the steak piece would have been 2 pre-surgery bites!I PROMISE you will NOT be able to eat what you used to before surgery....let that worry go! I know you have probably read that you will only be able to eat a few oz of this and that, but the reality of just how much that is won't hit you til you get there. It still shocks me to this day. I have

to explain over and over at a restaurant that I "promise, there is nothing wrong with my meal, just wasn't very hungry, I'll take a box!" sometimes they just don't believe you!Hang in there til mushies and you'll see and then solids are even more restrictive! Just don't get too bummed when it is so yummy you are almost depressed that you can only get in 2 bites like me! That was my inner fat girl...she is much quieter now, but still fights to be heard every now and again! :o)Sent from my iPhoneOn Aug 1, 2011, at 2:05 AM, Christie Salazar <salazarchristie@...> wrote:

Not all doctors have the post op diet, some have your eating soft food 3 days after surgery! Dr. A has a strict post op diet, it is hard actually, at least it was for me but it is worth it! Stick with it, really do your best and you will reap the rewards in the end. You trusted this man with your life you need to trust him now to believe he knows what he is doing with the post op instructions. Everyone heals at different speeds, what if your cause a leak by eating too soon???? I do not want to sound dramatic but it can be very serious if you mess with the healing process. My advise would be go back to the plan Dr. A gave you and better be safe than sorry. The 30 days will be over before you

know it! Be strong! We all went through it and did it! You can too! SueFrom: Christie Salazar <salazarchristie@...>" " < >Sent: Monday, August 1, 2011 2:31 PMSubject: Re: New sleeve

Thank you Sue, I think your right. Not worth the risk!! Plus, it is still too difficult for me to eat anything other than the clear liquids. It is nice to know my sleeve is working, I really felt like it was too easy until I tried a scrambled egg today. Thanks for being so encouraging Sent from my iPhoneOn Aug 1, 2011, at 10:01 PM, Sue Logg <sue.logg@...> wrote:
