Guest guest
As a medical professional, I'm very sorry that the gentleman in the previous posting had a bad experience with his ER visit. But, as Danae said, crappy insurance affects everything. I try like heck to give my patients the very best treatment possible, but we are constantly boxed in by various health insurance restrictions. Trying to figure out what we can do to help a patient, based on their health insurance plan, sometimes takes more time than actually examining and treating a person. We are not soulless automatons in the medical profession. For the most part, we got into this business because we care for and want to help people. To lump all of us together as horrible people, AND then having others chime in their agreements, is very hurtful. I would guess that this is a kind of "dumping syndrome" where you have eaten too many carbs and your body is working hard to use them up (there's a more physiologic explanation for this, but it would take longer). Dumping happens mostly in people who have had a gastric bypass, but I"ve had similar symptoms occasionally when I eat something really sweet, like ice cream. It passes, but you are right, it is NOT a pleasant feeling.I think avoiding that last bite is actually good advice, and watching what you are biting to see if there is a pattern to it.Danae (the M.D., (who really DOES care about her patients, and works hard for them, even if they have crappy insurance, or no insurance!!!)) Guest guest
Hello SallyI apologize for hurting anyone's feelings, to be honest with you I am a licensed vocational nurse so I belong to that health care industry I am criticizing. Again I still feel the same way about our health care system in the states. I was just sharing my experience on this blog, to help inform people who are being discourage about having surgery in MX with Dr. A. I was once one of those people who thought bad things about going to MX.Bottom line as a member of the profession, our health care system is jacked up, and the reason you see people resonating with this outlook on this blog is because they all speak of experiences they or friends/family have had in past.By the way I have Kaiser Permanente which happens to be one of the best HMO's out there and still received this level of care. Now imagine the level of care the rest of the 40% of Americans get that have no health insurance.
