Guest guest
Hi , So good to see you yesterday. How's that fill? I can't say enough good Things about Dr. Garwood. Thanks for turning me on to to him and his wife. They both are so caring and helpful, almost felt like I was in Mexico with the Dr.Aceves-Team. I have been going to Dr. for a while now and just loved her, but now I'm strictly gonna go to Dr. Garwood, as mentioned below he has developed his own shake and man is it good. web site below. The most wonderful thing about this shake is the fact that not only does it taste good but was developed mainly for post~ & ~ pre-op patients, It literaly reduces the fat from the liver and makes it firm as it should be and this makes for a much easier surgery for Dr. A. and the patients too. Of course it's a great shake for everyday use. I don't think I'll ever drink anyone other than this shake it has everything in it, that us bandster need. Wow, How neat to finally find a shake that was developed for bandsters and he is so modest that he didn't even put his name on the labeling, I ask him about that and he said it wasn't necessary, besides he is developing another product for the military, which is top secret. He's a great guy and very informative. I went in for a fill yesterday and finally now I have restriction. 2 weeks ago I went into Dr. 's for a fill and as usual I felt no restriction, but I am so glad to have Dr. Garwood and his wife in College Station to do my fills especially now that Dr. informed me that she will only be here once a month anyway. You know when one door closes another one opens that's better. Also I wanted to add that if you need more fill before the week is up he will add more for no charge. I think just forgot to add that and I thought that was important thing to add to her info. Hope this helps anyone in need of a caring fill doctor. We hear so much of the scary fill Dr.'s~~~~ He is the best I've gone too. thanks for reading this long post, but well worth going to him. Guest guest
, it is so good to hear from you. I am so glad your emergency was handled. Although I am in Florida, I have been thinking about using someone closer for fills--but just haven't talked myself into it yet. Thank goodness you found someone who could care for you in a pinch. I have very little restriction now because of a major unfill in November. Dr.s A and C saw me in December and gave me a "little fill" so now I only have 0.9 cc in my 4 cc band. Well, I can honestly say that I can eat anything I want anytime of the day. I was just looking at airfares this a.m. to go back to Mexicali. Thanks for sharing the new information with us. I hope you continue to feel better and that all your fill troubles are history! Keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi ! Hey, you mention he has a partner in Dallas. Do you have that info? I would love to go see him. I have been looking for a doctor that would take care of me (not just give me fills). Glad to hear you are ok! M From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of NANCY Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 9:02 AM Subject: My Horror Story - very long Hello Everyone I must tell you about my experience last month with the band. For those of you who don't know, I was banded by Dr A July 18, 2005. I have been seeing a fill Dr in College Station TX for my aftercare. I live in Houston. I used to go to the Surgery Center in Houston. They had fills without flouro but the nurse practitioner left and the new person had NO band experience (or personality). Deb introduced me to Dr ($200 w/flouro) and that is where I've been going for over a year now (but never again). Since I've had my band for so long (had 3.5 CC in 4CC band), I know all of her tricks. I know I'm more restricted " that time " of the month, when I'm on antibiotic and when I'm sick. Last Dec it finally happened, the " perfect storm. " They all 3 hit me at once and I was so restricted I couldn't swallow my saliva. I had this problem right after surgery and ended up spending thousands in an ER, when all I really needed was to wait for the swelling to go away. I tried to wait it out this time. From Thur – Sat I took in NO water (or food) and was throwing up saliva 1 or 2 an hour. I was lost and didn't know what to do. I didn't call Nina because I knew I was in no shape to fly anywhere. Finally on Sat I felt like I was on the verge of dying so I called Dr (in tears) in College Station. Her husband said they couldn't help me because they no longer live there and they were on the way home! They gave me the # for Dr Garwood and said he could do an unfill. Since I didn't know Dr Garwood, I didn't want to bother him on a Sat. I decided to give it one more day to see if I would loosen up. Needless to say Sunday was the worst day ever! I called Dr Garwood and was transferred to his cel phone. He was in Houston with his family shopping for Christmas. He was actually right down the street from where I live but of course without medical supplies, he couldn't do anything. He told me he would call me when he left and he would meet me in College Station for the emergency unfill. I couldn't believe he was doing this for me. He didn't even know me and he was willing to give up time with his family for my emergency. He and his wife met me at his office in College Station later that Sunday and he removed all of my fill. I was immediately relieved. I guzzled 3 bottles of water in his office. While there I asked about his partnership with Dr and he said he had never met her. She was referring patients to him when she didn't have time for them but she never took the time to set up arrangements with him (how thoughtless of her). This is when I realized she had turned away other emergency unfills when she was too busy or out of town! Not good since most of us were using her as our primary aftercare physician. I spent some time speaking with Dr Garwood and his wife Janice. I found out he was one of the first Dr's to work with band patients in TX. His partner moved to Dallas and he is now setting up his own office for Lap Band patients who have had surgery outside the US. He specializes in internal medicine and his focus is before and aftercare (he is not a surgeon). I hope everyone takes advantage of his services. The man actually cares for people not just money. He only charged me$100 for the unfill without flouro! He wasn't even greedy in my time of need. That says a lot about a person. He also gave me a sample of a special shake for Lap Band patients. He actually created it by himself. It's not something he's selling for someone else. The military is working with him to develop a formula for soldiers because it helps wounds heal faster. I have NEVER taken a supplement because they all taste like crap to me. I drink a shake every morning and I love it. The web site is www.myocel.com if anyone is interested. Anyway I hope everyone who used Dr. changes to Dr. Garwood. He is a caring physician who goes out of his way for his (and other Dr's) patients. His contact # is 979-661-1160 call for an appointment. His new office is down the street from Dr 's. He will do fills during the week in his office or on Sun 8-12 and Sat by appt He charges the following (cheaper then Dr too) $200 – first visit – includes administrative fee and fill with flouro $150 – fill with flouro after 1st visit $100 – fill without flouro after 1st visit He also gives you 7 days for a free unfill 07/18/05 280/180/
Guest guest
// Hey, you mention he has a partner in Dallas. Do you have that info?// Hey ! I'm glad all is well with you. It was nice to see you post again. Dr Garwood is 180 miles or 3 hrs from Dallas. His old partner moved to Dallas and will NOT work on patients from Mexico. He sends them to Dr Garwood! I think that may be part of the reason he stayed behind. He feels like patients who have had surgery outside the US are not being cared for properly because US Dr's are refusing to see them. He also says some surgeons just do the surgery and they have no after care program. That's why so many fail. He's trying to help everyone succeed. His daughter is banded so he understands us (bandsters). I'm sorry to hear you gained some weight back. Try being without a fill for a month (over Christmas)! I ate like a pig and gained a minimum of 10 lbs back. I was at 16? now back to 180. I love the band! I know once I'm at a good fill level, I will lose again. I just hate that I did it to myself (gained weight back). 7/18/05 280/180/
Guest guest
After reading your post, I cancelled my appt with Dr. STephanie and made an appointment for a fill with Dr. Garwood. I live in Dallas also and the trip is a committment, but I like the idea of having a committed physician to my bandcare. My appointment is Saturday at 11:00am, if anyone would is interested in sharing a ride I would be glad to arrange something. This will be my second fill and I am looking forward to finding my sweet spot. psquires (972) 636-7393 (h) (214) 649-=7467 © (214) 767-6134 (w)
