Hi ,

I also live in Oregon. I am in Eugene. Please do not fear going to Mexico. You can go to the US State Department on line and it will list all the board towns that are NOT safe. Mexicali, is NOT one of them. Ernesto the drive is excellent and does this two times a day. It is very safe to cross and Ernesto takes you to the hospital, to your hotel, picks you up and takes you back to your hotel. Then drive you when you go home back to the airport.

I have never had a lapband, but from what I have heard and read EVERYONE loves the sleeve after having the band removed. They do not have any problems with the sleeve like you have had.

If you have any question please send them to me.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Hello Everyone,I'd like to introduce myself. My name is and I am an RN from Oregon. I have had 2 bands and have been through SO much with them.I had my bands put on here in the US.I am really nervous about this whole thing. I only have had a brief few months when the band worked and I lost almost 60lbs. I had to have my band unfilled and have regained most of it.I am struggling w/a few different fears. First, will the sleeve really be different?? My Lapband journey has been pretty devastating and I have been told, in not so many words, that I am to blame for my problems w/my band. Emotionally, I can't handle failing, again.Second, I am slightly nervous about going to Mexico..I admit it. I know that the violence seems far from Mexicali, but it is still in the back of my head. Thanks so much for reading this and I appreciate any advice or feedback you have..God Bless,

,You were me exactly a year ago....I had my surgery Memorial Day last year. I'm going out the door to work so can't write too much but just wanted to tell you to relax, that it will be ok and you will be ok. I'm 114 lbs lighter now and would do it over again in a split second...in fact I'm now trying to get my husband into having the surgery. Here's a link to my blog if you'd like to check it out. http://mwlj2010.blogspot.com/

Best wishes!

Hi :)

You'll be okay. I promise. I have friends who have bands and who are having issues too. From listening to them, I really do belive that this is different. I had my sleeve done in March and felt bad for the first month or so, but I feel like a new person. When I'm hungry, I eat. It's never very much and the things I want to eat are completely different than they used to be. I'm not sure what button got pushed, but I'm glad that it did! It is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm sad that I waited until I was 39 years old to do. I think of how much of my life I spent "trapped" in my old ways, and it is sad. But, the new me is emerging thanks to a good decision on my part and an excellent surgeon! It's a tool...a great one! Go for it!

And don't worry about Mexicali. I went by myself and was completely. I felt 100% safe the entire time. You're in excellent care from start to finish!
