Hi Mrs. Dash,First of all, 40 pounds is excellent! I know how you feel with food frustration. I get real crabby when I can't eat. When I have PB'd more than 2 times in a day I have learned that I have to do clears for a good 12-24 hours. And only clears. That is when I take my protein bullets mixed with Crystal Light. At this time I can't even do Starbucks or milk based drinks. And then after I do the clears I then just do cottage cheese, soups, milk, mashed potatoes and then slowly get back into solid foods. My latest issue I am thinking now was possibly due to hormonal changes. all of the sudden I just couldn't eat. And that lasted for about 5 days. I do know that if I do PB and keep trying different solids I keep PB'ing and start feeling really bad and get moody. I think you need to just do clears for a day and then mushies and see what happens. I know that my band is ok because once I do the clears and am able to keep that down and do mushies slowly I feel fine and no more PB'ing or other issues. For dinner I just had Hamburger Helper, probably about 1/2 cup and mixed some cottage cheese with it and 2 spears of Asparagus. I didn't even finish but I save it and go back in a little while to finish. And, I always have a soft cookie with milk before it. Sometimes one or 2 times a day. And I also like Pringles, only a few but enough to satisfy me. I know these are bad habits but they keep me satisfied and happy and even with that I still only take less than 1000 cal/day. I keep saying I need to exercise but just haven't done that yet. I am a nurse and work mainly 12 hour shifts during night and evenings. At work I can eat a little more because I do a lot of moving around, etc...And, I haven't gone to many restaurants with people. PB'ing in the bathroom isn't fun and very embarrassing! Someone always asks if I'm sick because I'm not eating much. I didn't realized it but I have the bigger band. First fill was 1.5 cc and then second one in Nov. 07 was 1.6cc (I think). I have loosened up just a tad bit. I really think with me I am learning when to stop and take a break. I love burping because that means I can usually take another little bite. There were so many times I wanted to go for an unfill but I'm glad I didn't. I feel great and almost can eat everything (in very small quantities). Just don't do the donuts and cheeseburgers and fries that I used to eat all the time. This is not recommended, but I even drink a little of my diet coke at least once every few days. It doesn't feel the same and I usually don't finish the can but every once in a while it still tastes good.I think you'll do fine once you get out of the PB'ing cycle. As I've heard others say on the board, you have to break that cycle of PB'ng everything by going back to clears and starting all over. Also your stoma could be swollen from your PB episodes. I know how much I still love food. So, even very small bites are better than PB'ing and not being able to eat anything! Just keep trying to make better choices and you'll start to lose again. Good Luck!DanaOn Mar 5, 2008, at 6:06 PM, mrsdash1966 wrote:Dana:I am having a heck of a time eating. This band is a mystery to me. Dana, yes your fill does loosen up in time. I think you need to stay on liquids for a few days. You have irritated your stoma and you need to let the swelling go down. I would stick to jello, and liquid soups for a while. Try to eat in the late evenings, sometimes that helps. East slow and the fish my just be to dry and chunky for now.
