Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, I am in the last few days of my post-op diet, banded on Sept 19. I recommend going to GNC to buy the Isopure clear liquid protein drink in bottles. It comes in many flavors and gives you 40 of the 60-70 grams of protein you need per day. I picked up 24 bottles then on day 25 switched to a Whey Protein I bought at Wal-Mart that I can mix with water or milk for the extra protein I need each day. When buying these protein supplements, check to be sure the carbohydrates are not overly high (keeping in line with the carb requirements in the pre-op diet). Another recommendation is to pick up Gax-X (chewables or dissolving tabs) and Immodium (chewables)for your trip back home after surgery. I didn't find that I needed them, but some people do and these meds aren't sold in Mexico. Also pick up a chewable multivitamin (the liquid one I bought at GNC was really nasty tasting even when mixed in juice). Wal-Mart carries Centrum adult chewables and Costco has children's jelly chewables you can use. I also picked up (at Wal-Mart) boxes of low-sodium Swanson Chicken broth, sugar-free jello and a couple of bottles of clear juice to use during the 10-day clear liquids phase. That should hold you for the first 10-14 days post-op. Hope this helps you. Good luck on starting your new journey to healthy and beautiful! > > Dear Bandsters I need your help!!!!!!! Guest guest
I would recommend buying a bottle of Isopure before hand and seeing if you like the taste. Some of us refer to it as Isopuke....lol. Hopefully, you will like it because it makes the clear phase much easier. Good Luck! Guest guest
I personally hated the Isopure but someone on here used it to make Jell-O…. maybe that wouldn’t be so bad.  Lol I used the New Whey protein tubes (shots)…. They are kinda sickly sweet, but I could usually manage to get them down. They’ve got 42 grams of protein. I know other people have used a chicken flavored protein powder- to add to broth, etc…. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of nadine4@... Guest guest
Suzanne: Google the following: New Whey Protein - These are clear liquid tubes in several flavors, you can drink them individually or you can dilute them with some fruit juice. They contain about 22 grams of protein per serving. You need these during the first week at home after surgery to keep you from getting hungry and weak. Shop around on the web sometimes they are on sale. They cost about $2 each. Believe me, you will be glad you have them when you get home. Unjury - There are numerous flavors. Some can be used in the clear stage, others can be used during the milky stage. They taste good and are easy to carry in your purse. They are the size of an individual oatmeal packet. Protein powders can be purchased at you GNC or many other stores. The two items above are more of specialty items needed the first two weeks. After that, you can use any protein powder or mix. Good luck. Hope this helps! C Tampa From: suzanneribas@...Date: Thu, 16 Oct 2008 22:09:50 -0400Subject: RE: Suzanne Ribas Dear Bandsters I need your help!!!!!!! Guest guest
Only problem is that the quality of this protein is pretty bad. It's basically boiled horse and cow skin.
