Guest guest
Sleeves, bypass, and DS all interrupt the hormonal chain reaction in the gut. That's a good thing, it fixes a botched metabolism. On Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 4:05 PM, pokeysher <pokeysher@...> wrote: My dear friend is having a revision from band to sleeve with Dr. Aceves. Could some who have had the revision surgery comment on the differences they experienced having had both surgeries? Could you talk a little about challanges and of course successes? Guest guest
I did not have a revision, but had a sleeve done by Dr. A on March 11th. As someone who has had thyroid issues for the past 12 years, I thought for sure that I would lose weight very slowly. Well...I was surprised to find that at a month and a half, I've lost 25 lbs. Please tell her that I had the same worries and they have proven to be absolutely groundless! Because you can't eat much, your body is burning through the calories you consume. Tell her to go for it! I'm very glad that I did! Guest guest
Hi, I did not have revision surgery...just a VSG on 1/06/2011. I have had hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's)for the past 16 years and take Levoxyl. I've lost 28.7 lbs since surgery plus 13 lbs pre-surgery for a total of 40.8 lbs. I just had my 3 month blood work done, and now I'm hyperthyroid. My PCP said my TSH was barely measurable so now I'm on a lower dose of Levoxyl. He also said I'm slighly Anemic (yet my iron and B-12 are fine), a little low in Potassium, my kidney functions tests are abnormal, and I'm still prediabetic even though the # came down a lot to just 106 (A1c 5.9). I forget what he said about my cholesterol but that has been very high for years. I'll find out more when I go for my physical on May 2nd and he said he'll order more blood work after my exam. My point is that Bipley is right, the sleeve shocks your metabolism so your friend just might find that her metabolism will increase due to the surgery.
