Guest guest
I'll start by saying: Hello All!! I'm horrible at writing introductions... I tend to ramble so I apologize ahead of time. I can't wait for September 17th to come and to get this surgery behind me and start really living my life! However I have the normal reservations I think everyone going for a surgery has. I have never actually had any kind of surgery. Stitches were the worst thing I've encountered. I find that my emotions are all over the place and I know I am ready to make the changes in my lifestyle, but I still catch myself wondering about the " What if " questions. I'm a 27 year old Nursing student and I am currently living in Saskatchewan, Canada with my fiancé . We have been together for 8 years and are getting married this February in the Dominican Republic. I am very glad that Dr. A has agreed to take me on for the VSG. I have a High BMI, but I am otherwise reasonably healthy. I have found the journey to this final decision both tiring and very emotional. The waitlist here in Saskatchewan is long, and getting accepted for bypass is difficult. I decided on Mexico and Dr. A for a few reasons. First I wasn't interested in having the RNY bypass as I have been anaemic for many years, and I believe that the mal-absorption would cause difficulties for me. I was informed that it would probably be more beneficial due to my weight. He has many years experience and I haven't found a SINGLE bad review for him or his team... they are recommended from everyone. I'm soo grateful for this forum as well as the Obesity Help forums. I have been surrounded by excellent information from the veterans, and I can find common ground with all the newbie's. I look forward to getting to know everyone better, and I can't wait to share this experience with those of you headed to Mexico the same week as me!! My journey starts in a very short 17 days. So VIVA MEXICO!!!! I fully intend on staying involved in this forum and keeping a good journal/v-log of my experience. I think that it will be something to reflect on when I have finally made goal weight. I also think that having some video reference will aid me during the big transformations that occur during the first 2 years when everything changes.
