Guest guest
It will tighten up gradually, but depending on your age and how long you've been overweight, it may never firm up completely. I'd wait a year after you hit your goal before you actually consider surgery. > Hi > > I've gone from 30% bodyfat to 18% bodyfat (hope to get to 10% by the > end of June), I started the BFL at the end of March '03. Guest guest
I am 33 years old and have always been anywhere from 30 to 50 pounds overweight. I'm kind of disheartened that the skin may not completely tighten up. I'm in a size 8 and some 6's from size 18......I wasn't even in a 8 when I was in the 3rd grade which makes me feel really GREAT, but now to have to deal with excess skin. :-( > > Hi > > > > I've gone from 30% bodyfat to 18% bodyfat (hope to get to 10% by > the > > end of June), I started the BFL at the end of March '03. Guest guest
, I know how you feel with the skin. I have a consult with a surgeon in August but will not have any type of surgery on my stomach skin until after I finish having children. I'm going to give it one year, (3 challenges) and see how it progresses. Then if after I'm still very unhappy I may have something done. (post pregnancy) But I agree with the others, wait a year and see, I'm doing the same with my breast reduction as well. I'd rather avoid going under the knife if possible Tink wrote: > I am 33 years old and have always been anywhere from 30 to 50 pounds > overweight. I don't believe she had any problems once she lost the weight with lose skin. http://www.customizedphysiques.com/ Colleen
Guest guest
, I emailed Pam Brown about skin issues and she told me it took quite a while for hers to shrink up... she also said that she had a tiny bit of " wrinkles " above her belly button, but nothing that bothered her, and nothing that anybody saw but her and her hubby. I went from 30+% to the current 13%... I started seeing SERIOUS changes in belly skin around 15%.... Tons of stretch marks AND I'm a smoker, so that does a double whammy on the skin issues.... here's an interesting link I found, though have had quite a few discussions about this article and whether this guy is right or not... not sure myself... but at any rate... if there is ANY hope to shrink the skin outside of surgery, its my guess that reducing body fat is the way to go. http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm ~Quick disclaimer... this website is an ADVERTISEMENT for a book... I havent bought it and dont intend to, if you've already gone from 30% to 18%... you dont need it either... interesting article though! Good luck Deb > THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!! Guest guest
Sorry to butt in. I think I read about Pam Brown in Energy magazine. Does she have a website? Guest guest
Sorry, I must have missed that one. I do try to keep up with the board but I find it tricky with the time difference (I am in the UK and wake up to zillions of posts to get through in between BFLing, looking after my 4 month old and participating on a parenting board!). Thanks! > Colleen posted it.... > > > > > > http://www.customizedphysiques.com/ > > > > > > > > > > Colleen

I think when I answered below, it ran into her post asking for a question. Colleen

Guest guest
I am told exercise and build muscle is key when trying to tighten skin. It can be done. BUT I know a girlfriend of mine lost 100 lbs (since returned) without exercise and had tons of excess skin. N.H.Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Guest guest
Lots and Lots of toning exercise. 'bout all you can do. Besides you might not have excess skin, it just depends. Don't give yourself extra worry, just concentrate on getting the weight off. *~*~*~* "You can deprive the body, but the soul needs chocolate" -Sapphyre *~*~*~* "Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet. Guest guest
I have excess skin on my arms and stomach. I hate it, but would hate the 130+ pounds back on more. I did some toning and drank lots of water. It has a lot to do with age also and how long your skin has been stretched out! Mine was stretched for many many years and I am over 40. I am sure, if I did loads more toning at the time, it would have helped. To be honest, I hated (and still do hate) exercise. I was lucky to get in a WATP DVD or a walk outside. My goal was to lose weight and get healthy. Guess I didn't think about the "aftereffects" of loose skin. Do I wish I would have, yep, but I don't know if it would have helped or hurt my efforts. I don't have the money to get surgery, and not sure if I would. I just choose clothes that "hide" the imperfections a bit. a apmleehere@... Guest guest
Everyone's situation is a little different. Dr. Bello, the cosmetic surgeon to whom Dr. Aceves refers, once gave me a quote for a tummy tuck, breast implants replacement and taking off excess skin on my arms of $11.5K. Of course this was over a year ago. So depending on what you need done - i.e., if it's just on the abdoman, I'm sure it'd be a lot less that my quote. You'd have to get quote directly from Dr. Bello, though. Contact Nina for Dr. Bell's information. > > Hello, > > Does anyone know the approximate cost of the surgery to remove excess skin at Dr Aceves hospital? > > I will need it done and need to save for it. > > -Dennis > > > Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® > > Newbie > > I'm flying in next week for a virgin sleeve. > Little scared, I'm going alone. > > Thank you for all that you have written. > > It helps a lot. > > Theresa, > New York >
