Guest guest
Hi and welcome! Why not try iced tea? I buy the Lipton Cold Brew and have one teabag in a tall glass of ice water & splenda every day w/ my lunch. I gave up sodas all together and don't miss it at all! But I still need my caffine! > > I am new to the group. I belong to a Body for Life community on > LiveJournal and saw this club mentioned in a post there. > > I am . I am 32 years old. Guest guest
That is a thought. I love the Cold Brew tea. I have a fear of Splenda, however. I don't trust anything with aspartame in it. I feel like it should be safe if Bill recommends it, but it is still not 100% natural. That frightens me. How much sugar is too much sugar, if I decided to sweeten my tea? > > > > I am new to the group. Guest guest
The ingred in Splenda is: Maltodextrin & sucralose. No aspartame! We've all gone back and forth on here on the goods/bads of sweenteners. I think IN MODERATION is the key. I only have 2pks per day in my tea and 1tsb on my cottage cheese & fruit. I personally stay FAR AWAY from real sugar. > > >
Guest guest
Hi Noreen! Welcome... from a slacker who's just come back! Don't forget... chefs can cook up healthy fare as easily as anything else... ; ) www.sistersunshine.com Hello everyone! Hello everyone Newbie here, just started my BFL program today. I've tried it before but wasn't in abyss-crossing mode like I am now, been doing my homework and gearing up for this challenge for weeks. And I just watched " Supersize Me " , if nothing else will change me, that will, *shudder*. I'm 27, married [to of all things a chef] (j/k, I love him) and we have a great 8 year old son. I start college classes on Monday and I'm really excited about that, making a couple different transformations here! I really look forward to taking part in discussion and support here (I found it through Skwiggs excellent website, which I've read front to back in recent days). Yeah, I saw SuperSize...it did nothing but make me want to go out and get a Big Mac and Fries. It wasn't that convincing to me. But, everyone is different! Good luck and have a great week! Guest guest
Welcome to the group. BFL can seem a little overwhelming at first. My advice is to dive right in and start doing it. There's definitely a learning curve but it's best to learn as you go instead of waiting until you have it all perfectly sorted out. Some people get stuck in that waiting/planning stage and never really go for it. It's better to jump in and muddle around. :-) Expect to make some mistakes, and to learn, and to keep going and going! Let us know if you have any questions. Everybody is happy to help On 6/28/05, Anji <chapeski@...> wrote: > I'm new here and just bought the BFL book, and just am a bit ... timid > about whether or not I can do it or not! Guest guest
Good for you for deciding to just jump back on the wagon! There's no sense beating yourself up for anything because you can't go back, but you can move ahead, just like you're doing. As far as the smoking, don't beat yourself up there, either. Like Mark Twain said, " Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it hundreds of times. Guest guest
Hi Faith, Welcome! below is a brief story of my son. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. this is a very caring and knowledgeable group of people. Again, welcome! Virginia Hauf, whose son was cured of inoperable brain cancer by means of an alternative and controversial treatment that remains unavailable in the United States. Ms. Hauf tells her courageous story in her new book, Saving My Son: Surviving Cancer. In 1991, Virginia’s son, Steve, is diagnosed with brain cancer. His doctors in the U.S. cannot offer any help or hope, and they estimate that he has just three months to live. Determined to leave no stone unturned in seeking help for her son, Virginia eventually finds a specialist in Mexico who has successfully treated thousands of cancer patients using modalities not recognized in the U.S. Her friends and family worry; the American doctors warn against the alternative methods; a single mother, she has limited financial resources. But Virginia presses on, deciding to take Steve to Mexico. Within six months of receiving therapy at the Mexican clinic, Steve is given an MRI; the exam shows that his tumor is clearly shrinking. Doctors in the U.S. are amazed: they think it’s a miracle and urge Virginia to “keep doing whatever you’re doing for Steve.” However, some authorities are outraged; shortly afterward, Virginia is arrested, charged with child abuse and endangerment and mail and wire fraud. The trouble has just started, however; she loses her job, holds a disastrous fundraiser, then learns that the doctor in Mexico has been arrested and the clinic forced underground to evade the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Virginia’s story is one of resolute hope and courage. Finding the faith that Steve will survive, she encourages him throughout their ordeal, despite little support from anyone around her. I am happy to tell you that Steve is a very healthy, happy, successfull, young man and has been cancer free for almost 14 years without having been subjected to chemo or radiation. by the way, I am virginia! faith_2_heal <faith_2_heal@...> wrote: I just joined the group and I am very happy to be one of your members. I so admire your courage and strength, especially being a single mom myself who has fought many battles on behalf of my kids. You are just amazing! Where can I get a copy of your book? I would really love to read the whole story. You are an inspiration to both cancer patients and single parents everywhere! Congratulations for all you have accomplished (and suffered) for your child! I too have ptsd from (MAY TRIGGER/BE UPSETTING!) severe childhood abuse, which I blocked out until about 10 years ago (I'm 51) and am sooo very sorry about the robbery! How horrid for you! Are you ok?! I can just imagine the stress you are under! Are you on meds for your ptsd? Not having any made mine worse when I had to go off xanax and switch to seroquel! Meds and just doing 'nothing' mental, like just physical work like housework and having quiet help my ptsd to calm down. I can tell right away if it starts to act up so I have to stop doing what I'm doing. There are some great ptsd support groups online too, I used to belong to one but had to switch from dsl to dial up and lost the address so am just mostly e-mailing 2 gals from the group now.
