" I developed MCS in 1987 after being in an office where pesticides were routinely sprayed and then in a new office building. I've tried a lot of treatments and avoidance of chemicals... and accupressure-based energy modalities such as NAET are the only things that have improved my health dramatically. The book you're reading must be one of Cutler's older books. She does a similar treatment now called Bioset. Yes, I have had the accupressure-baswed older NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique) and Bioset treatments. These treatments allowed me to get rid of virtually all of my numerous, quite serious food sensitivities and have lessened my chemical sensitivities. I'm still working on chemicals. One can learn to do the treatments oneself. It helps to have a family member of friend who can help. Yes, they are weird, but they work. One of my friends who could not even go in a mall before says she could now work in a mall if she had to. That's dramatic. It was dramatic for me to be severely allergic to corn for 18 years and then in 20 minutes have corn cleared to the point that I can eat 5 ears at a time with no reaction! As with any treatments and practitioner, check out the practitioner as thoroughly as you can. There is an NAET listserve. There is controversy about whether Nambudripad's original method is better than Cutler's newer method. I've had both; both worked. The advantage of NAET was I knew immediately it would work; I was " cleared " for egg my first treatment and no longer reacted to it, for example. THis encouraged me to keep going. The disadvantage with the newest Bioset is that one clears for other things (hormones, one's own blood, etc.) first and it can be hard to know immediately if it is working. (At least it was for me, perhaps because I was already better.) However, clearing for those things may make some sensitivities just disappear. For most, this will be a long process. Go to a pr open to you learning to test and clear yourself if you can. I think it's helpful to go to a practitioner initially for the first 10 or so treatments and then have the pr on hand if you run into problems when treating yourself. One must make a commitment and " appointments " with oneself to be successful at self-clearing or family clearings. I would not go to someone who wants to clear chemicals immediately. I think the body must first be strengthened by clearing vitamins, minerals, and common foods etc. first. Interestingly, I was " allergic " to calcium, which may explain why despite eating/drinking calcium throughout my life, I have osteopenia (almost osteoporosis) at age 48. By the way, these clearings can be quite complex. For example, something may not clear initially but then might if combined with the stomach acid.
