My 2 bits of advice would be .... don't go out and buy tons of protein shakes. I made the mistake of buying A LOT of protein shakes only to find that after the surgery, my taste buds change continually. So I would say, buy samples of each kind that sounds good to you but buy as you go along. Maybe it's just me, but one day I like something and the next day, it doesn't taste well anymore. I am 6 months out and still find this to be true. Gatorade was very, very helpful too. You're going to love the new you!!!

Supplements & protein

Hi everyone,

I have sleeve surgery scheduled for July 25 and wanted to order everyting I'll need for after. Is there any protein products or supplements you ladies/guys reccommed? I'm so nervouse, but really really excited!! If you there's anything you wish you knew before starting this whole process please tell me! Thank you!!!

I also got a ton of different protein powders and shakes and found that I can't tolerate any of them. They all make me horribly sick a few minutes after I start drinking them.

Gatorade has been my savior as well! I'm still fairly new to the sleeve (as of May 25th) but I love it so far!

Christie,You are wise to plan ahead. Get ALL your stuff for post-surgery before you go. I like Unjury, it is no more or less expensive than other potein choices. I just did vanilla and chocolate. The Premier protein drinks at Costco are good too. I got all my chicken, beef, and veggie broth too. I didn't want the hassel of shopping.Btw, the first 30 days are the worst. It seems impossible to get all the protein and water. But I am so happy I got my sleeve!-DennisSent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®From: "christie" <salazarchristie@...>Sender: Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2011 20:29:28 -0000< >Reply Subject: Supplements protein Hi everyone,I have sleeve surgery scheduled for July 25 and wanted to order everyting I'll need for after. Hi,

I agree don't buy a lot of different Protein Powers. Premier Protein drink at Costco is my all time favorite. It has been 2 years and 8 months since I had sleeve surgery and I still drink one every morning for breakfast. I hate Isopure. I call it Isopuke--it taste like pond scum. That is just my opinion.

I also had a lot of clear chicken broth that I liked and used the first 30 days. White grape juice was something that worked for me the 1st 10 days. And I love Crystal Light too and mixed it in water. Don't panic if you can't get all the water and protein drink in the 1st 10 days. It really is difficult to do, but just do the best you can. REMEMBER THE FIRST 30 DAYS WILL THE THE HARDEST MONTH FOR YOU. After that they just keep getting better.

I had chewable multi-vitamins and Costco also has a good liquid vitamin that you can use. I had a hard time swallowing my medications, so I would grind it into a power and mix it with 1 teaspoon of applesauce and that is how I got my meds down the 1st month.

Christie,

I ordered mine before I left so that it was at home when I came back. Though I

would do like everyone suggested and also get some creamy soups and broth too.

Butternut Squash soup was very soothing to me. It comes in a carton.

Go to www.netrition.com

Your Netrition Order

Qty Item ID Product Price Total

1 39-0045 Matrix 5.0, Perfect Chocolate, 5.34 lb. $42.99 $42.99

1 39-0926 Matrix 2.0, Cookies & Cream, 2.16 lb. $22.99 $22.99

1 39-0962 Matrix 5.0, Mint Cookie, 5.40 lb. $42.99 $42.99

1 40-0043 Shaker Bottle, 25 oz $0.00 $0.00

The absolute best of them all is the Mint Cookie. It even helps soothe my

stomach when it is a bit queezy (maybe because of the mint).

The other ones that I ordered from a different site; www.bariatricfoodsource.com

and love are:

cran-grape-fruit-drink Cran Grape 1 $10.00 $10.00

grape-fruit-drink Grape 1 $10.00 $10.00

lemon-razzy-fruit-drink Lemon Razzy 1 $10.00 $10.00

cream-broccoli-soup Cream Broccoli Soup 1 $10.00 $10.00

cream-tomato-soup Cream of Tomato Soup 1 $10.00 $10.00

cream-mushroom-soup Cream Mushroom Soup 1 $10.00 $10.00

berry-delicious-smoothie Berry Delicious Smoothie 1 $10.00 $10.00

variety-pack-shake Variety Pack of Shakes 1 $8.75 $8.75

chewable-b12 B-12 (Sublingual / Chewable) 1 $10.49 $10.49

spectra-woman-vitamins Spectra Woman 1 $21.99 $21.99

dhea25-vitamin DHEA 25 mg 1 $10.95 $10.95

lemon-chiffon-pudding Lemon Chiffon Pudding 1 $10.00 $10.00

This is from www.bariatricfoodsource.com The cran grape & grape are fantastic.

For some reason sour tart type things taste great. The soups were ok during my

2nd 10 day stage, but aren't great, but have great protein. This site was

created by doctors for Bariatric patients and they have a great variety of

products and information. They also have alot of great vitamins created just for

Bariatric patients. Check out the protein counts in this stuff. It is amazing.

I hope that helps.

Good luck!!! Dr. Aceves is so amazing.

If I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi

I like Isopure powder...chocolate shaken with ice. It will be one year in September and I also have one every morning for breakfast. I also purchased Adult multi vitamin gummies from Costco. Very easy to go down. I hate chewing or swallowing pills. These work. They also have calcium gummie chews.

And a little later it's good to have some cherry flavored Milk of Magnesia around for constipation.

Hi,

I feel that Miralax works better for constipation. And Miralax is tasteless and can be mixed with your morning protein drink. It is NOT habit forming either.
