i paid 20% up front, and expect that insurance will cover most of the rest.

make sure you understand the tests, or have a sympathetic doctor before

you spend the money.....i know one person who got her doctor to order the

tests but then the doctor did not give a damn when they came in, and would

not push immunoscience to explain the parts the doc. did not understand.

also, they have a catalog that might give more data on shipping. i called

their 800 number and got directions a bit clearer than that on the website.

ask them exactly which test tubes, how to pack it, etc. they will share

their data on shipping, test tubes etc. for FREE at a free phone number.

always use caution when you spend your money, because many doctors do not

have any idea why they are running the tests, and if they do not care

enough, you could get stuck with a huge bill and little knowledge gained.

i took 6 months of courting my doctor on these issues before we drew blood.

i wanted to make sure we were both on the same page, so i kept on bringing

in peer reviewed data for her on various cfids immune functions until

she really got what i was talking about and was enthused herself.

if i had done this at the beginning of 6 months, she might have grudgingly

agreed, but would not have been as interested in what they meant, and in

addition, wouldn't have argued with blue cross over the bill (which i

anticipate we might have to do, knowing how stupid they are here.)

I got a lemon CP order yesterday after all the talk of the lemon FO!! I have

a sample size of fresh lemon from Harbinger Labs and wondered if you guys

use a particular pigment or one of the spices like tumeric to color it or

leave it natural? She doesn't want the gardener's I make which contains

cornmeal and some lav & TT. PS)My CP is still a little spongy Terri, how

long does it take to be rock hard?thanks

I am LAUGHING! I love that visual of being with Ernesto and playing chicken on the freeway! I think we need to get a sign up sheet and go for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride with Ernesto! Like the one at Disney Land!

As far as the sleeve, there are many people who have had the revisions from the band to the sleeve and are so much happier! I was at the crossroads between the band and the sleeve and chose the sleeve for the reasons that it was permanent and I didn't want to spend more money, time, and effort maintaining a band. Most of the people that I know who got the band have either had it removed, revised, or the port taken out, or it is not filled because of the problems they have had with it. I don't know about Dr. Aceves' records, but the friends I have did not get their bands with Dr. Aceves. But some of the people who did get revisions, are on this messageboard.

With the sleeve, the stapling is down the left-hand side of the stomach. The right-hand side of the stomach is where most of the hunger hormone Ghrelin is made. When that part of the stomach is removed, then you have very little hunger. The left side is more muscular and less easily stretched. The old surgery used part of the right side of the stomach that stretches easily, and can eventually stretch back out to a normal stomach size. This newer surgery has less capability of stretching back out because of the muscular nature.

I used to have terrible hunger headaches and low blood surger prior to surgery....now, I am very rarely hungry and when I do eat something, it only has to be a small amount and has lasts many hours.

I have not had any problems with the sleeve and am totally happy with my results! I am very restricted and can only eat small amounts at one sitting. Even after you mentioned that Egg McMuffin, I thought, "Hmmmm. I haven't had one of those in a long time." So, I went out and bought one this morning. I could only eat 1/2 of the McMuffin and threw the rest away. If I eat a sandwich, I can only eat 1/4 to maybe 3/4 of 1/2 of a sandwich. There is something with the bread that fills me up and it feels like a pile of rocks in my stomach after a few bites. That is the good thing! Bread is really not that enjoyable for me. There are many foods that I used to eat that I can no longer eat.....spicy foods hurt my stomach....so I am very limited. Which before, I loved salsa and spicy foods. So, my menu is more limited to getting my protein in first, then veges, and fibre. I am not sad about not

being able to eat any of the foods I loved....I am still happy because food is just not that interesting to me anymore.

I have had a few desserts.....sadly to say, they are very sweet....but go down very easily. So, I try to be diligent and not have but a few bites here and there. They can be a deadly distraction.

I know once you hear from other sleevesters, you will probably want the same thing. If Dr. Aceves is going to cut you open, you might as well get the sleeve and be done with it. No more fills, unfills, slippages, etc. This is a breeze! It is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I am thrilled that I have lost 50 lbs in 4 months. I know others have lost faster, but I am very happy with each pound that is lost!

Let us know if you want more info!

Thanks for the laugh this morning!

Subject: Something is wrong with my band

Date: Friday, October 31, 2008, 6:56 AM

I got banded almost 2 years ago and I have lost over 100 pounds and look pretty

much like a normal weight middle aged man now, but I¢m having problems.

I¢ve had virtually no restriction at all this year. I¢m only maintaining my

weight level with sheer willpower, but that ain¢t going to last.

I went in for my last fill under fluoroscopy and everything looked normal, but

a couple of weeks later I still had no restriction.

I was really wanting to avoid having to get cut open again to figure out what

the problem is, but I don¢t see any alternatives right now.

I thought that maybe I was just chewing my food too good and drinking too soon

after meals, etc. so I tried to change things up.

I¢ve been religious about the two hours after meals before drinking thing,

but it seems to have no impact.

This may sound crazy, but I even tried consciously chewing my food less before

swallowing in the hopes that it would stay in the upper stomach longer. It

didn¢t work. I can wolf down bites as big as anything I ever ate before the

band without chewing and no liquids and it still never gets stuck and goes

right

down.

I guess I need to schedule some time to get back down to Mexico and have Dr

Aceves take a look.

Anybody else have any ideas?
