Hey,

I really need to jump in here and speak up. There truly is a reason that we go through these steps of 10 days of clear liquids and then moving on to 10 days of creamy liquids and then the last 10 days of mushy food. I will help you figure this out.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to what I am about to say because I really do know what I am talking about. Dr. Aceves is very conservative in the post op diet but his patients have a lot of success and have very few complications. He has more experience than any Doctor out there--are you a doctor--no you are the patient. His success rate is based on his plan that he has for EACH of us after doing our sleeve. He knows that works and what doesn't. Don't go off and read something that someone else has written. It DOES NOT PERTAIN to you or your surgery. What Dr. Aceves tells you is what you need to be doing.

NO one ever told you that the 1st month was easy and that you could do what you wanted because you didn't like drinking all this stuff.

You are NOT HUNGRY I promise you. You are experiencing what we call "Head Hunger." Your old thinking brain is telling you--gosh you used to give me a lot more food, how come I am not getting it anymore? So your BRIAN not your STOMACH is telling you to eat something different and more that you are. The good old brain plays some really ugly tricks on us. We have to be in control of our brain. This is a relearning time. Please work on retraining your brain. Pretty soon it will stop doing this to you.

What you are doing is very dangerous and can cause you some complications that WILL NOT be Dr. Aceves fault--ONLY your fault. You have to get back on the stage that you should be it. It honestly is a full time job the first month trying to make sure that you get enough water and protein in your tiny new stomach. You will NEED to sip water all day long--do the best you can when it comes to getting these things done. I don't care if it goes right through you--we all experienced these things. This is your responsibility to do this. You have spent ALL this money--why not follow the directions that were given to you. I am not trying to be mean, I am trying to save you from any problems that you may encounter by NOT following the correct steps in your recovery.

I have been down the road you are in right now. I had to follow the directions I was given that first month when it came to eating. YOU are not doing that, you are taking it upon yourself to do what you want--this is really ALL wrong.

If you have question, honestly I am here to answer any of them. I will gladly call and talk with you if your are struggling too. I REALLY WANT YOU to be successful.

I have read this and feel that you are getting some wrong answers from some people who are only baby steps ahead of you. I am 3 years out from having my WLS. I have some real history behind my answers.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Jen...I don't ever really feel full either, I'm not sure if I'm hungry or just want to eat, you know what I mean? I was looking at post on obesityhelp and I found a link for the Cornel university gastric sleeve post diet... We'll it said that we can already eat blended foods. So I tried mashed potatoes today and an egg. It is actually hard to eat! I was pleasantly surprised, after the liquids and jello was so easy for me. I feel like the sleeve was doing it's job! Anyways.... I hope you get the drinking thing down. Have you lost weight yet? I've lost about 10 lbs but it's not noticeable yet.

Hi ChristieGood to see you are doing well, I'm glad we got the chance to meet. I'm not really having exactly the same experience as you, I'm having a hard time drinking, but not really because I can't. I just can't stand taking sooooo many sips! Guess I have to get used to that. I will tell you, though, that I can east jello (only about 1/2 pre-made cup) at one sitting without any difficulty. I don't really ever feel full, just bloated at times. In fact, I think I feel hungry and my stomach is constantly growling and making weird noises too. Do you feel hungry? I don't know what head hunger is, exactly, but this feels like real hunger. Jen> > Hello everyone! Thank you all for your well wishes! I had my sleeve done on Monday and everything has been great so far, for the most part. I was wondering if any of you were able to eat (Jello) and drink drink quite a bit with out any issues? I'm not complaining but I'm wondering if that's normal and IS my sleeve actually working? I can drink a whole mug of broth and not feel full... Another question, my stomach is constantly growling and everything goes strait through me, have any of you experienced this? Thanks everyone for for your imput! > > PS - Hope my hospital-mates are all doing well! It was nice meeting you ladies :)>
