Guest guest
You probably were not actually stuck or else you wouldve thrown up if you continued to eat. But you were heading that direction. The days of "woofing" any food are over. Once you get a fill, you will NOT be able to do that ever! In fact, the rule is bites as small as a pea and chew 15-20 times. Best to start practicing that now. After a fill if you have a "stuck" episode, you are to go on straight liquids for 24 hr following. Its all a learning experience. Best of luck to you, you'll catch on! Guest guest
Kinda, sorta, not really? Yesterday, I had a half a pita pocket (low-carb, made with flax seed so high fiber) with a mayo/mustard mix, ham (real ham, not lunch meat ham), some thinly sliced cucumber and shredded napa cabbage. I needed to run some errands at lunch and not thinking, I wolfed my sandwich down. By the time I got back from the errands, about an hour later, I wasn't feeling all that whoopie. I didn't really feel stuffed but I felt, well, like I had a rock in my stomach. Then, stupid me, I ate more a couple of hours later because I had the munchies. Then I felt *really* crappy. I had a bit of yogurt and a protein drink for supper last night and a protein drink for breakfast. I still felt crappy and came home at noon. I didn't eat anything for lunch but I took the dogs for a long wandering walk and felt a bit better when I got back in. I drank some clear liquids then laid down for a nap. Finally, by supper tonight, I was starting to feel decent and had scrambled eggs and am feeling fine now. Hence my question. Did I experience a bit of " being stuck? " I am barely on solid foods and have no fill but I also didn't chew that dang pita sandwich, just bolted it down. Which, I might add, I will not do again! It was fairly high in fiber between the cabbage and pita bread. I didn't really *hurt* per se, but I was mighty uncomfortable, like I had a solid weight in my stomach that wasn't moving. Just for future reference, I'd like to know if this was a mild form of stuckness because if it was, I *definitely* don't want the full-blown thing! in AR
Guest guest
I don't think that was a "stuck" episode, more like an "I ate too much" episode Stuck is PAINFUL, not uncomfortable, and usually your body tries to "get rid of" the stuck thing I have found that my diet is much more basic than yours and I don't know if it's because I'm not creative with my meals like you are, or if food just isn't as interesting as it used to be. I can't imagine eating a pita w/ham, cucumber, cabbage, I just don't think it would go down. But as I write I'm starting to wonder...I believe it is because it's not worth the effort anymore. Food used to be such a huge part of my day because it was so HUGE. When you sit down to a meal and eat 7 bites of anything, it just isn't worth the effort of making something that takes even 10 minutes to make. The meal is over in 2 minutes. PS, it's late, I'm taking pain meds, HA HA Why I feel like I should write a journal when I'm in this state of mind I will never know, but you are the lucky ones who get to take time out of your day to read my ramblings. LOL Anyway, I'm glad your tummy is feeling better, and your right, that was just the beginning of many, many, lessons about eating right that are to come for you. Guest guest
Trish!!! My long-lost-half!! :oD SNORK! Yeah, it really kinds sucks, doesn't it? ;o) At least mine is over now and I'm back on track. It's funny too because that little episode seemed to get my stomach back into the small portions again. Today at lunch, I cooked a couple of tuna steaks (with lemon pepper, just in a skillet with no oil), and steamed a carrot with 1/2 cup of edamame. I took about a 2 oz portion of the tuna and about a quarter of the carrot/edamame mix and made myself a small salad that *might* have made one cup very loosly packed. Thinking I maybe should start doing something to fill myself up since I seem to be able to eat more now, I ate the salad first. Then I could only get down half of the rest. Now *this* is what I was hoping for. :oD in AR > > I think is my lost other half! > I had a horrible night last night and a really bad food day today - I feel > exactly like you describe above. I'm mad and frustrated at myself, but > tomorrow I have a nice day planned with my friends and I'm definitely getting back > to my " new normal " food. Guest guest
Yeah, I'm getting a glimmer of what you mean about food just not being interesting. I'm not there by a long way but while I was on mushies especially, I could eat so little at times that it seemed so not worth the effort to fix stuff. It's funny but I find myself spending *more* time eating now than I used to with a fraction of what I would eat. Part of that is because I chat through the meal now but mostly it's the infernal, uh, *healthy* chewing I do. ;o) Having to chew anything this long kinda takes some of the fun out of it. > > I don't think that was a " stuck " episode, more like an " I ate too much " episode Stuck is PAINFUL, not uncomfortable, and usually your body tries to " get rid of " the stuck thing I have found that my diet is much more basic than yours and I don't know if it's because I'm not creative with my meals like you are, or if food just isn't as interesting as it used to be.
