Yup. It's a pain and for me it lasted longer and hurt more than it should have but it went away and it will go away for you, too, I'm certain. My pain lasted for two months and then some. I began to wonder if it would ever go away. It finally did. It's jnust part of the recovery process. I understand that it is different for everyone. Hang in there.claudiaaestrada <claudiaaestrada@...> wrote: Hello! I just wanted to know how many of you have experienced shoulder pain after surgery? I mean told me that it

I sure did! It slowly went away and was gone within about two weeks. It is not uncommon, but it will be gone soon. Hang in there. -jimclaudiaaestrada <claudiaaestrada@...> wrote: Hello! , Everyone and I mean everyone has this shoulder pain....you need to move your arms, walk around, pass gas, hold your arm up when your shoulder hurts......if it still hurts it is because you have not gotten rid of the gas yet...... "This too shall pass" (no pun intended.......but it is kind of cute!)

I had shoulder pain too. Watch if you are getting your liquids too fast. The left shoulder pain was really intense after my first meal and told me that is my new "full signal" I watched how quickly and how much liquid I was getting at one time and all be darned if he wasn't right! When I drank too much broth my shoulder started hurting, when it started I would stop eating and about a 1/2 or so later it would be gone, then I would do it again at the next meal. A year later I'm a little better about not pushing it so hard, but it takes some slowing down and thinking about if you need the next bite or not.Congrats on getting the surgery and good luck. ,

My surgery was December 14th and I had terrible shoulder pain for a

good two weeks. Is slowly got less and less, and I mean slowly! My

daughter, who had surgery at the same time, had no shoulder pain at

all. I used a hot pad for 15 minutes every hour when I was home. I'm

so sorry you are suffering from this as I know how you feel! Hang in

there, it will get better, I promise!

Hi Everyone!

I’m pretty new to the group. Which

surgery is everyone referring too? I am hoping for the gastric sleeve. Is it

all the surgeries?

It can happen with the sleeve too. It's not really gas after a few days, it's the effects of the gas. During surgery they will fill your belly up with gas so the docs can see what they are doing. After surgery there are gas pockets throughout your abdomen that will slowly absorb into the GI system. You will burp and pass gas. It is usually absorbed in a few shorts days. The pain after that is from the effects of the gas, there is a nerve in your diaphragm that gets irritated from the gas (think of bruising, kinda) and that is what hurts after a few days.

Not everyone experiences it. I didn't, never had a bit of shoulder pain. But it can happen. On Jan 1, 2008 8:53 PM, Jana Willits <janawillits@...
