I had not discussed my decision to be banded in Mexico with my (new

old) PCP yet so I went in yesterday to touch base with him and let him

know what I was doing.

He was quite positive and excited for me...needless to say, I was in

shock with his attitude after reading and hearing about so many

negative attitudes in the medical community regarding treatment in

Mexico.

He asked a few questions about having the pre-op done and how I chose

Dr. Aceves, asked me to check in with him after shortly the surgery and

congratulated me on my decision.

Now I wish everyone could have a doctor like mine.

Thanks great news. My PCP is the same way. I told him ahead of time, and he

said the

only thing he wanted was to do the pre-op tests. I asked him which tests he

wanted to

do, and they are all tests Dr. A does the day before. He agreed with me that

the local (Los

Angeles) doctors are slimy when it comes to bands. He has been very supportive.

I saw

him a couple of weeks ago and showed him the scars and told him how great the

experience was with Dr. A.

Everyone was recently sharing about if they told people they were having the

surgery. I

didn't tell most folks. But I've found that each time I tell a new person, they

usually follow

up with " oh, I know someone who's considering that, can I have them call you? " .

So now

I'm starting to think I should tell more people, since I have no problem talking

to someone

who is considering having it done. For me, it's kinda like passing on the help

I've received

here on the board. And I know what a hard decision it is and how hard it is to

find good

information about the procedure.

I decided not to tell my PCP until after I had the surgery. I had even changed to this one because the one before did not support the surgery at all. But, I didn't even want to deal with it so I waited until about 5 months after. At that time I was down about 50 pounds and feeling really good. She was very happy for me but just said I was "very brave!" So, whatever..... At least I'm not taking antidepressants and all that other stuff that was maybe going to help me get motivated to lose weight.DanaOn Mar 4, 2008, at 10:08 AM, blackfeet61 wrote:I had not discussed my decision to be banded in Mexico with my (new old) PCP yet so I went in yesterday to touch base with him and let him know what I was doing. He was quite positive and excited for me...needless to say, I was in shock with his attitude after reading and hearing about so many negative attitudes in the medical community regarding treatment in Mexico. He asked a few questions about having the pre-op done and how I chose Dr. Aceves, asked me to check in with him after shortly the surgery and congratulated me on my decision. Now I wish everyone could have a doctor like mine.

I too have been surprised to my dr.s response she was very supportive however she did have me go thru some tests to make her feel better that i would be ok for the procedure. It is wonderful to have her support . She is even sitting me up with a diet tician so I will have some support when I need it. I cant wait to go to her afterwards she wants to do my incesion check for me about a week out, Lucky to have her, Marie
