There is a more direct route, fly into El Centro.  I believe the airport code if you want to look up airfare is IPL.  I was just looking it up yesterday for a friend. On Sun, Mar 6, 2011 at 5:08 AM, PINK <nolley2@...> wrote:

Hello Everyone!

I have been lurking for a week or so. I am in contact with Dr. Aceves in regards to having a revision from a Lap Band to a Vertical Sleeve. I have had a lap band since 2002, and recent issues with the band sitting too high causing pain is the reason I am looking for an alternative solution. I do not want the band repositioned or just taken out.

My Dr. in Wisconsin has only done a few bands and probably no revisions. I would rather self-pay and get someone who has experience and seen many different situations regarding revisions.

So far Dr. Aceves keeps coming to the top of my list. My only hold out is the " road trip " from San Diego to Calexico, I wish there was a more direct route.

Another Dr. I contacted wanted to do the surgery in two steps. Take out the band, wait 5 months and then do the revision. I can see his logic, just don't know about having two surgeries and waiting so long.

I really enjoy reading all of your posts and appreciate any feed back anyone can offer about a Revision to a Sleeve.

Thank You so Much

Totally GO for it. Dr. Aceves is the right doctor for what you wish to

accomplish. He can and has done that and will be the best resolution for

your needs.

Best of luck to you - although luck is not needed here - I wish you the

best of all worlds in the WLS domain. Thanks for sharing your story with

all of us here. We all wish you well.

Lynn,

Don't worry about the " road trip " from San Diego. The time will fly by. Sit

back, enjoy the scenery, get to know the others who are having surgery at the

same time you are, and let Ernesto entertain you.

It sounds like a long trip but its over before you know it.

My badly slipped lapband was removed and the revision surgery done at the same time by Dr. Aceves in Dec 2009. I've lost 80# since then and have NONE of the issues I fought with the lapband. I'm 100% happy and have no regrets! From: PINK <nolley2@...>Subject: Hello - New to this group - Researching Revision Surgery Date: Sunday, March 6, 2011, 8:08 AM

hi Cheryl; One of the things I enjoy most about the trip to Mexicali is.....the trip. I love driving down to SD and then getting a hotel and then waiting for the van at the airport and then meeting everyone and watching the scenery as we go along. The whole trip both ways feels like an adventure and a mini-vacation. I was just glad to see your note in there and wanted to say I agree! LJ
