Guest guest
My belly button piercing didn't hurt at all. I did it on my youngest's first birthday. (Also got a tattoo w/flowers and my kid's initials) Maybe my belly was still numb from being stretched the year before. I don't know. Anyway, it didn't hurt. My biggest problem is finding jewelry. I'm pretty much limited to titanium since I'm allergic to nickle. I've thought about having my nose done, too. Becky > > I'm not worried about the pregnant part (re: belly ring). You should probably call and ask or e-mail the question to his office. They kept asking me if I had any piercings (I don't) especially during the EKG prior to surgery. Guest guest
Anne,I have no idea what the rule is in Mexico--or how Dr. A would feel--as I have yet to meet any of them. But I thought I might tell you what I know from a lifetime of working in the OR.One of the most common forms of hindering blood loss is the form of electrical cautery--this obviously use electrical current. The reason for not having piercings in surgery is to prevent burns from the metal object conducting a current--this can happen with metal use in piercings. In the even of his decision to use electrical cautery to stop bleeding--they would not have time to dive under the drapes and remove your piercings at that time. It is a safety issue. Every now and then, I will tape a patients earrings for a surgery if I do not feel there is a chance we would need the electrical cautery. My honest opinion---is a burn worth not having to get something re-pierced?Hope that is helpful, jenFrom: Anne <annepowell@...>Subject: Re: Piercings Date: Monday, July 21, 2008, 2:52 PM > > Does anyone know if Dr A. will let you wear navel jewlery during > surgery? Guest guest
I, too, have a few piercings that I was concerned about. had to help me remove them prior to surgery. I had them redone when I returned home. Jenni DOB 2/23/06 247/145/136 Surgery/Goal/Current 5 fills 3 unfills Forever Portless! From: castloyale <roboothe@...>Subject: Piercings Date: Sunday, July 20, 2008, 1:41 PM Does anyone know if Dr A. will let you wear navel jewlery during surgery? I have my navel pierced and would like to keep it that way. Also what about other jewlery like ear piercings way up high, the ones that hurt real bad to have done and certainly don't want them to close or have to re pierce them again.
