not at all. Some discomfort with the bloating of the

belly cavity with gas .The gas has to go somewherte

and it gives you quite some gas pain. You have to get

yourself " GasEX " and take it with you for the first

few fays after surgery. That was all I experienced.

Lem'me think for a minute....Oh Hell yes! But, I knew about it ahead of time. I chose not to have a spinal block so I have about a gazillion times more pain than someone that has a block. With pain meds, it's totally doable but for those that don't have neurotic thoughts about spinal blocks ;o) I'd suggest getting one. I just have " spinal block hang up " based on no good reason.

I got the spinal block. Myself and my Mother have a history of being sensitive to anaesthesia. For what it's worth, I had almost no pain the day after the surgery. I felt fiiiiiine. Um, that is once I finally came out of the anaesthisa all of the way and realized that I could move my legs. When I was first waking up I was realllly out of it and didn't think I could move my legs. The second day I felt okay, but not as good as the first. I didn't pass gas until 36hrs after surgery, and that caused me a lot of pain. The gas pain for me centered around my lower ribcage and felt like a band being pulled impossibly tight. The more I wanted to pass gas, the more walks I took around the hospital, the more pain I ended up in. Once I started to pass gas I felt much better. The other painful thing was the drain. That damned thing was just

plain uncomfortable. I constantly felt like someone was jabbing me in the ribs. Once that came out I felt pretty damned incredible for someone who just had surgery. Hello all, A newbie here and planning on having the sleeve next week. So, what about this pain and gas and what can I do to eliminate or mitigate those nasty feelings? Spinal block? First I've heard of it. Should I or shouldn't I have it? I don't have any anxiety here, tend to take things as they come, but that doesn't mean I don't have some concern about pain. Hate pain. Give me those drugs!! :-) Has anyone been true to the pre op diet? If I could do that, I wouldn't need an operation, right. LOL. Anything I might need and can't get in Mexicali? Hey Gerry,

I was banded on May 9th, 2008 and was totally true to the pre-op diet for 10 days.

I didn't want to risk having problems by not following Dr. Aceves orders.

I continue to be true to the post-op diet and am happy to report that at 26 days post-op, I am now 21 pounds lighter than I was the day before surgery and 28 pounds lighter from the day I started the pre-op diet.

I have a lot to go but it's working and I haven't had any problems so far. Hunger pangs are there but minimal at this point. I am satisfied on about 1/2 cup of food and stop.

I will continue to follow the rules since I don't want to throw my hard-earned money down the drain.

I had needle going to my back twice when I had my babies so this was nothing new for me, but in my sleeve case the spinal was done after I was out with anesthesia, so I didn't feel anything. I was told they will turn me on my side and do the spinal. Paid after surgery is not a very big deal, you will be surprised like I was. There is nothing to be scared of, you will be in good hands. . I had the sleeve procedure, spinal block and all, I had no pain and no gas. I barely remember any of this. My surgery was 04/11/08 and I have lost 32 pounds so far. I am 51. I am so happy I had this procedure instead of the lap band. My sister had the lap band two years ago with Dr. Aceves. She wishes she had the sleeve as well. Best of luck to all. w Horizon Traveler <nhtravelor@...> wrote: That's a relief for me too! Gosh that needle! brrrr....Thanks, le.NHT Re: The sleve and pain? No, you're completely out. $9500. In the end it is probably the same or cheaper than the band when you consider aftercare. On Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 3:05 PM, Holsinger <bertschire@...> wrote:

Re: The sleve and pain?

No, you're completely out. The spinal block hurts for a bit when it first goes in (they said I wouldn't feel anything, I did), but after that you're quickly in lala land.

Hi,

I just had my sleeve done on 05-30-08 and had spinal block and I will recommend it. I don't know how I would feel w/o it but for me second day after surgery was worst than the first one. For me paid on scale from 1-10 was only 2 and I feel great now no paid at all.

Hello all,

A newbie here and planning on having the sleeve next week.

Has anyone been true to the pre op diet? If I could do that, I wouldn't need an operation, right. LOL. Anything I might need and can't get in Mexicali?

Thanks to all for great information

Thanks for that info, .NHT(set for sleeve on June 10) Re: The sleve and pain?

I had needle going to my back twice when I had my babies so this was nothing new for me, but in my sleeve case the spinal was done after I was out with anesthesia, so I didn't feel anything. I was told they will turn me on my side and do the spinal. Paid after surgery is not a very big deal, you will be surprised like I was. There is nothing to be scared of, you will be in good hands. .
