HURRICANE CHARLEY See Images Of Most Severe Damage Reported In Florida The lack of power and recent thunderstorm flooding are preventing many properties from drying out, which is causing dangerous mold to grow indoors. FEMA has issued a mold alert and is asking people suffering from mold- related problems to call the Environmental Protection Agency mold hotline at (800) 438-4318. Local 6 News featured on family in Seminole County whose home is filled with mold. Pam Mallard said she cannot find help to clean the mold and her elderly mother's life is in danger because of it. " We have nobody to help us, " Mallard said. " We just need a general contractor out here so we can get started on fixing our house before she (mother) has to evacuate from the mold. " Allstate Insurance said they can't send anyone out to the Mallard house until September, Local 6 News reported. And FEMA said its paperwork is in the mail. However, a contractor who saw the Local 6 News story early Sunday has stepped up to the challenge and will stop by the house Monday to see what he can do, according to the report.
