, You didn't write this for me but thanks anyway. I made the mistake of watching a few UTube videos of lapband procedures yesterday and it stressed me a little since it's so close to my surgery date (I think). I'm not usually squirmish about surgeries and medical procedures. My surgery is scheduled for next Friday......finally. All I could think of yesterday while watching the videos was "I am going to do THIS to myself?". Anyway, I'm better today and reading your email this morning after my long night at work helped. I know I'm making the right decision for myself and my health. Thank you. aandreaearlemccorkle <andreaearlemccorkle@...>

wrote: Hey there. I know what you mean about being nervous. I just had mysurgery on the 18th and the week before I was a basket case. Mainlybecause I had read the boards too much. However, let me put your fearsto rest. First, try and remember that this board is made for us Dr. Apatients who need support, the other boards are normally open to ALLpatients who want support, no matter where they had surgery or withwhom. Dr A is special, he has almost no complications stats forsurgery and he is, in my humble opinion, the best. Given

that, you arein the best hands to be sure, and what you're reading on other boards, isn't as probable for you, because of the skill of your chosen physician. However, the lapband and the sleeve and bypass all come with someportion of complications after the fact. That's just the cold, hard, truth. WLS isn't for sissys. It's for us who have banged our headagainst the fat wall so many times we just can't go there anymore, andwe're willing to take drastic measures for success. With thosemeasures, for some of us, like it or not, no matter how compliant andobedient we are, there will be complications-manageable, non-lifethreatening, irritating, tiresome, certainly worrisome, complications. That's the truth. Then of course, there are those who have the surgeryand don't even try and follow the rules and therefore create their owndrama. "Hi, I'm 9 days out and I ate Taco Bell last night and..."(That's a direct quote off

LBT). Those people ask for their issues andthey have them in abundance. Human nature is such, when we worry that we seek help. Thus, it makesa lot of sense that in this medium, chat and boards dedicated to WLSissues, that much of what is written could and may come from that"worried" perspective because those that are worried, those that arehaving complications, are the ones who write the most, because thosewho are doing great, do not normally take the time to logon and sayHEY MAN I'M DOING GREAT! I mean some do, and they're wonderful forhelping us newbies, but many just don't because they're doing greatand thus, they don't need that extended support. Let me say this though.....MAN, I AM DOING GREAT! I've lost like 17pounds since surgery and I am sticking to the diet and when I get aworry, I call Dr. A's office and they calm me down. ALL WENT WELL withmy surgery and after the fact I'm fine. Now that doesn't

meaneverything will always be perfect, and if it isn't, I'll be on hereasking questions because truth is, this is where the experts live, andthis is where I should be asking questions about any complications Ihave. Just keep in mind though that this too shall pass...thenervousness about surgery, the fear of the unknown (because it allbecomes KNOWN)-the too tight fill, the unfill, the refill, the portpain, the work out dread, the overwhelming desire just to take afreaking bite of bread, the caffine withdrawal....it will all pass, and on the other side of these minor infractions is skinny YOU andskinny ME:) See you there! > >> > Well I went down to see Dr.A and staff on the 19th for my second > fill.> > I have a total of 2.7 in a 4 cc band.
