I had my nutrition classes this week and I was told that you pretty much end up

eating about 4 tablespoons of food per meal and a couple protein shakes along

with that. That sure seems like VERY LITTLE food..and processing that in...

Hi Shari,

No, that is about right --now remember this is when you first start out--it gets better as time goes on. Here is the thing you need to know, you have had major surgery on your stomach so for a few months it is quite swollen and it was made smaller. You new smaller swollen stomach will hold about as much food as the size of your thumb. I hope that helps understand why you eat so little food at 1st. Remember your brain that has always had too much food is now try to process this small amount of food. In time your retrain your brain to know that this is just fine. This is why we say the 1st month you do after surgery is the HARDEST.

You are dealing with having a lot of liquids the first month, and retraining the brain. Your brain will play "head games" with you and try to sabotage your weight loss. You have to relearn how you think about food. After a while it becomes a way of life and as time goes on you will be able to eat a little more food. Thanks goodness we have this restriction and it is our 'Tool" to allow us to lose the weight and maintain our weight loss.

Hugs,

Suzanne
